XIAO ESP32-C6 PCB Design

I’ll set dedicated 3 A rules for the 5 V and ground paths, create a bottom-layer GND pour while preserving the XIAO antenna keepout, route the board, then iterate on DRC and remaining airwires.
The 3 A net rules and antenna-notched ground pour are in place, and the board passes routing preflight. I’m starting the full route now, then I’ll clean up any remaining connections or violations.
The final connections need short neckdowns at small pads; the original minimum widths were too restrictive. I’m preserving 2 mm preferred power trunks while allowing brief pad-entry neckdowns, then reconnecting the remaining points.
Configured and routed the two-layer PCB:
  • 3 A power rules with 2 mm preferred 5 V trunks
  • Short neckdowns permitted at small IC/passive pads
  • Bottom-layer GND pour with XIAO antenna keepout
  • All nine nets routed
  • Zero airwires, dangling traces, or blocking DRC issues
Suggested next steps:
  1. Review silkscreen and connector labels.
  2. Run a manufacturing-readiness check.
  3. Export Gerbers, BOM, and placement files.

5 V wall supply
  → 2-pin ≥5 A input connector
  → 3 A fuse → low-drop reverse-polarity protection → 5 V TVS + input bulk/ceramic
  → PROTECTED_5V ─┬→ XIAO ESP32-C6 5V (onboard 3V3 regulation)
                  ├→ 5 V AHCT buffer → 330 Ω → keyed LED connector DATA
                  └→ keyed LED connector +5V (1000 µF + 100 nF local bulk/decoupling)

XIAO 3V3 → MPU-6050 + decoupling
XIAO I2C GPIOs ↔ SDA/SCL (one 4.7 kΩ pull-up pair)
MPU INT → XIAO GPIO; AD0 → GND (0x68)
All blocks share GND.
Functional Blocks
  • Power Input & Protection: connector, 3 A fuse, reverse-polarity device, TVS, bulk and ceramic capacitance.
  • MCU: Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32-C6 powered at 5 V; onboard regulator supplies 3V3.
  • IMU: MPU-6050 on 3V3 I2C, address 0x68, interrupt connected.
  • LED Output: 5 V AHCT level buffer, output damping resistor, reset-state pulldown, and keyed +5V/DATA/GND connector.
Design Ceiling
Board and connectors are limited to 3 A. Reserve about 0.5 A for electronics, leaving about 2.5 A for LEDs (~40 WS2812B at 60 mA worst-case). Larger strips require separate power injection.
