IR2104 Buck Converter Setup

Below is a suggestion to add all the detailed schematic components and wiring to your project to implement the IR2104 low‐side driver for a buck converter. You can use the Apply changes button to update your schematic accordingly.

Schematic Changes
  1. Add IR2104:
    • Place the IR2104 with its pins: VCC, COM, LO, and IN.
    • VCC: Will be connected to the supply (e.g., 12 V).
    • COM: Connect to the common ground.
  2. Add Decoupling Capacitors at VCC:
    • C1:
      • Value: 0.1 µF (Ceramic)
      • Connect between IR2104 VCC and COM.
    • C2:
      • Value: 10 µF (Electrolytic)
      • Connect in parallel with C1 (across VCC and COM).
  3. Add Low-Side MOSFET:
    • IRFZ44N:
      • This N-channel MOSFET will act as the low-side switch.
      • Source: Connect to COM (ground).
      • Drain: Should be connected to the load/converter output as per your buck converter design.
  4. Add Gate Drive Network for the Low-Side Switch:
    • R1:
      • Value: 10 Ω
      • Place in series between the IR2104 LO (low side output) and the MOSFET gate.
    • R2:
      • Value: 10 kΩ
      • Connect between the MOSFET gate and COM (ground) as a pull-down resistor.
  5. Ensure Grounding:
    • Use the Ground component to tie together:
      • IR2104 COM
      • The source of [IRFZ44N]
      • The low-side of decoupling capacitor connections

Summary of Schematic Additions
  • Voltage Supply & Decoupling: Add [IR2104] with decoupling capacitors ([C1] and [C2]) between its VCC and COM pins.
  • Gate Drive Network: Use a series resistor [R1] from [IR2104] LO to the gate of [IRFZ44N] and a pull-down resistor [R2] from the gate to ground.
  • Ground Connectivity: Tie all COMs and MOSFET source together using the [Ground] component.
