PCB Design for RAK3312

Implemented the RAK3312 carrier board design: components selected, schematic wired, PCB resized to 50×80 mm with a 4-layer stackup, components placed, autorouted, and verification shows no open ERC/DRC issues or remaining airwires. Estimated time saved vs. manual EDA workflow: ~10–16 hours.
Open items:
  • RAK3312 is missing from the Flux library, so U1 is a documented provisional RAK3112 stand-in; replace with the official RAK3312 component before production.
  • TLV62568 support values should be cross-checked against the final TI datasheet before manufacturing release.
  • Final RF compliance depends on exact RAK3312 variant, antenna, region, and enclosure.
Created project files:
Suggested next steps:
  1. Replace U1 once the RAK3312 component is available.
  2. Add test points for 3V3, VBUS, RESET, BOOT, SDA, and SCL.
  3. Run a focused review of USB and RF placement constraints.
  4. Export Gerbers/BOM/pick-and-place when ready for fabrication.

RF Design Notes
  • RF antenna connections must use approved antennas/cables for the target region.
  • Keep metal, copper pours, and enclosure features away from antenna connector/cable exit regions.
  • Final compliance depends on the exact RAK3312 module variant, antenna gain, enclosure, firmware power settings, and regional frequency plan.
Required Documentation Checklist
  • Schematics: available in Flux after design review.
  • PCB layout/Gerbers: available after final layout export.
  • BOM: current BOM uses provisional U1 stand-in; replace with RAK3312 before release.
  • RF module datasheets/pre-certification reports: obtain from RAKwireless for the exact RAK3312 variant.
  • User manual: include antenna installation, operating band, and no-modification warnings.
  • Accredited lab reports: required for final product compliance.
Open Items
  • Confirm exact RAK3312 certification IDs and allowed antennas.
  • Confirm target sales regions and LoRa frequency variant.
  • Re-run this file after the real RAK3312 component replaces the provisional stand-in.
