Temperature and Humidity Sensor Node Design

I’m blocked from making project changes right now because execution credits are unavailable, so I could not add components, wire the schematic, consult datasheets, or run review checks in this session.
Current project state:
  • No schematic components have been added.
  • No nets or PCB layout have been created.
  • The project is still an empty draft.
Recommended next design plan once execution is available:
  1. Rename and document the project as a USB-C powered Wi-Fi/BLE temperature-humidity sensor node.
  2. Select an ultra-low-power Wi-Fi + BLE 5.x MCU/module, likely an ESP32-C6/ESP32-C3-class module depending on availability and power targets.
  3. Add a digital temperature/RH sensor over I²C, such as Sensirion SHT4x/SHT3x or TI HDC302x-class.
  4. Build the USB-C 5 V input stage:
    • USB-C receptacle with 5.1 kΩ CC pull-downs for default 5 V sink operation.
    • ESD protection.
    • Reverse-current protection.
    • Over-voltage protection.
    • Under-voltage lockout.
    • Over-current protection sized for 0.5–3 A sources.
  5. Add 5 V to 3.3 V regulation sized from a proper power budget.
  6. Wire all MCU, sensor, USB-C, power protection, and regulator circuitry per datasheets, including decoupling capacitors.
  7. Add programming/debug access, status LED, reset/boot support, and optional test points.
  8. Run schematic review and fix all ERC issues.
  9. Create a bring-up/test plan and firmware pin map before moving to PCB layout.
Once credits are available, the first step should be schematic design and datasheet-grounded component selection before any layout work.
