PCB Layout for ISD1740SY Circuit

Fabrication files generated successfully.
Pre-export DRC passed for routing, footprints, layers, and copper. Caveat: the BOM still includes generic passive parts without assigned manufacturer part numbers, so choose exact resistor/capacitor MPNs before ordering assembled boards.
Generate Gerbers for fabrication
I’ll re-run the required fabrication checks, then generate a fresh Gerber ZIP for the current PCB layout.
Fresh Gerbers were generated successfully.
Pre-export checks passed for:
  • No open airwires
  • No missing footprints
  • No invalid layers
  • No overlapping copper
  • Defined 80 mm × 60 mm board outline
  • Routed 2-layer PCB layout
Before ordering, open the ZIP in your fabricator’s Gerber viewer and visually confirm the outline, drill holes, silkscreen, and copper layers.

Board Bring-Up Plan — ISD1740 Voice Recorder
Prerequisites
  • Equipment: multimeter, current-limited 5 V bench supply, oscilloscope if available, 8 ohm speaker, electret/dynamic microphone source as appropriate, jumper wires.
  • Safety: start with a 5 V current limit of 100 mA, then increase only after no shorts or overheating are observed. The ISD1700 operating supply range is 2.4 V to 5.5 V, so do not exceed 5.5 V on +5V.
1. Visual Inspection
  • Verify U1 orientation and SOIC-28 solder joints.
  • Check D1 LED polarity: D1 anode goes through R8 to +5V; cathode goes to LED_N / U1 ~LED.
  • Verify all capacitors C1-C10 and resistors R0-R4, R6-R10 are populated.
  • Inspect J1 power input polarity, J2 microphone input, and J3 speaker output.
2. Power Rail Verification

GNDJ1 P20 V referenceN/AU1 VSSD/VSSA/VSSP1/VSSP2N/AContinuity to all ground pins
Procedure:
  1. With power off, measure resistance between +5V and GND; investigate any near-short before powering.
  2. Apply 5 V at J1 with 100 mA current limit.
  3. Measure +5V at U1 VCCD pin 1, VCCP pin 14, and VCCA pin 21.
  4. Confirm local decoupling capacitors are not heating.
3. Critical Signal Verification
