PCB Design for Variable Power Source

0:18

What PCB mounting style do you prefer for the 5 kΩ potentiometer?
  • A through-hole potentiometer (e.g., 6 mm shaft panel-mount)
  • A PCB-mount SMD trimmer (e.g., 3 × 3 mm or 6 × 6 mm package)
  • Something else?
Let me know, and I’ll add the appropriate 5 kΩ Linear Potentiometer to your schematic.

I prefer a through-hole potentiometer with a 6mm shaft for reliability. Please add it.

Here’s how to add a through-hole potentiometer to your schematic:
  1. Open the Library panel on the left.
  2. Search for “5 kΩ potentiometer through-hole”.
  3. Drag the through-hole potentiometer (6 mm shaft) onto your schematic canvas.
  4. Position it near the 78L05 output.
  5. Rename its designator (e.g., RV1) in the Inspector on the right.
Once you’ve added RV1, let me know and we can wire it to the regulator output.

    Victron Filax 2 Transfer Switch

Victron Filax 2 Transfer Switch thumbnail
The Filax has been designed to switch critical or sensitive loads, such as computers, industrial controls or modern entertainment equipment from one AC source to another. The priority source typically is the mains, a generator or shore power. The alternate source typically is an inverter. With its switching time of less than 20 milliseconds sensitive loads will continue to operate without disruption.
