Here are three compact, low-cost synchronous buck regulators that take up to 16 V in and deliver 5 V at ≥2 A:

Table

Part NameKey SpecsPackageSupplier AvailabilityLinks
MP147016 V input, 2 A output, 1.2 MHz switchingTSOT-23-6LCSC, Mouser, Digi-KeyDatasheet
MP2122AGJ-Z4.5–26 V in, dual 2 A channels, 1.5 MHzQFN-16Digi-Key, Arrow, MouserDatasheet
MP1495SGJ-P4.5–16 V in, 3 A output, 500 kHzSOP-8LCSC, MouserDatasheet
Recommendation:
  • MP1470 is the simplest and smallest: single-channel 2 A in a tiny TSOT-23.
  • MP2122AGJ-Z offers two channels if you’d like to power both 5 V and 3.3 V rails via buck stages, but is larger.
  • MP1495SGJ-P provides extra current headroom at a lower switching frequency, easing filter design.
For cost and size, go with MP1470. It’s available for <$1 in volume and fits a minimal footprint.
