For a CM4 carrier, this 16-pin USB-C connector supports USB 2.0 only—not USB 3.x SuperSpeed.
Recommended wiring for a USB-C power + CM4 USB device/OTG port:
- Pins 2 + 11 VBUS → protected
USB_VBUS_5V
- Pins 1 + 12 GND → GND
- Pins 6 DP1 + 8 DP2 → join together → CM4
USB_OTG_DP
- Pins 5 DN2 + 7 DN1 → join together → CM4
USB_OTG_DN
- Pin 4 CC1 → 5.1 kΩ to GND
- Pin 10 CC2 → separate 5.1 kΩ to GND
- Pins 3 SBU2 + 9 SBU1 → no-connect
- Pins 13–16 SHELL → chassis/shield ground, preferably through the board’s chosen shield-ground strategy
Add a USB-rated ESD protector near the connector on D+/D−, plus VBUS protection/current limiting. Do not connect USB VBUS directly to the CM4’s 5 V rail if the carrier may also be externally powered; use a power-path/load switch to prevent backfeeding.
I only have comment access to this connector project, so I cannot wire it here. Also confirm whether this port should power the whole carrier or only provide CM4 USB device/boot access—the power-path circuit differs.
