DW01A Guide Research

I’ll research the manufacturer’s documentation and primary sourcing information, then write a cited application guide covering integration, layout, pitfalls, and replacement options.
The project’s sourcing reference identifies the YONGYUTAI version; other manufacturers use the same part name with different limits and thresholds. I’m keeping those variants separate so the guide does not imply that they are interchangeable.
I verified the manufacturer’s published protection thresholds, but the datasheet could not be read reliably. I’ll save a provisional guide that clearly marks the pinout, passive values, and absolute ratings needing confirmation rather than present them as verified.

Created the DW01A Application and Usage Guide with all seven requested sections and source links, specific to the YONGYUTAI variant.
It remains provisional: datasheet access failed, so pinout, passive values, and absolute ratings are explicitly unverified; no replacement is claimed as drop-in. Can you upload the YONGYUTAI datasheet PDF so I can finalize those sections?

Provisional integration guide — researched October 6, 2026. The project's stored datasheet points to LCSC C2927799, identified by LCSC as YONGYUTAI DW01A. The stored download did not return a PDF, and the alternate datasheet did not produce readable, citation-backed evidence after two attempts. Manufacturer product-page facts below are verified against that page; pin assignments, reference-circuit values, and formal absolute-maximum ratings remain explicitly unverified. Do not release a schematic or approve a substitution using the provisional entries alone. Identically named DW01A devices from other manufacturers must not be assumed electrically equivalent.

Engineering interpretation: Choose the cell and charger against the complete protection-threshold tolerances. Protection cutoff is a fault backstop, not the normal charge-termination target or the preferred normal discharge cutoff.
2. Pinout & Connections
Verification gate: The following is a provisional candidate pin map, not an approved YONGYUTAI pinout. Confirm it against a readable manufacturer pin table and top-view package diagram before wiring or checking the Flux symbol. No mandatory pin-level connection below is represented as datasheet-verified.

Pin NumberPin NameDescriptionBest Practice
1*OD*Discharge-switch gate controlIf confirmed, connect to the discharge-control N-MOSFET gate; not to an MCU GPIO
2*CSI*Current-sense / charger-detection nodeIf confirmed, sense protected pack negative through the manufacturer's specified resistor; not raw cell negative
3*OC*Charge-switch gate controlIf confirmed, connect to the charge-control N-MOSFET gate; check source reference and body-diode direction
4*NC*Candidate no-connect designationLeave unconnected pending confirmation; do not tie it to ground based on another manufacturer's test-pin guidance
5*VDD*Positive supply / cell-voltage sensingIf confirmed, connect to cell positive through the specified input resistor, with local bypass to VSS
6*VSS*Raw cell-negative referenceIf confirmed, connect to B− with a low-noise sense connection; do not merge it with P− across the protection switch
All six pin-number/name mappings remain unverified. A package-compatible part can still use a different pin function, including a test pin instead of NC.
3. Standard Application Circuit
Single-cell battery protection topology
The following describes a conventional low-side, external-MOSFET battery-protection architecture as engineering guidance, not a verified reproduction of the unread YONGYUTAI application figure:
  1. Define B+ / B− as the raw cell terminals and P+ / P− as the protected pack terminals. In the conventional topology, B+ and P+ share the positive conductor.
  2. Place two back-to-back N-channel MOSFETs between B− and P−, with their drains joined and sources at the two negative terminals. The B−-side device performs discharge control; the P−-side device performs charge control. Confirm this orientation against the exact reference circuit before implementation.
  3. Reference the IC to B− and sense cell positive through an input resistor. Place the bypass capacitor between the IC-side supply node and its cell-negative reference.
  4. Sense P− through a separate resistor at the current-sense input. This lets the IC observe the negative-path voltage drop and charger conditions.
  5. Connect the load and charger battery terminals to P+ / P−. Any external conductor that bridges B− and P− bypasses the cutoff path; inspect programmer, USB, chassis, and measurement-ground connections.
Required supporting parts

Table

Supporting elementPurposeSelection / verification requirement
Input resistor R1Supply filtering and input current limitingExact manufacturer value remains unverified; do not select solely from another vendor's application
Sense resistor R2Couples P− to the sense input and limits abnormal input currentExact value remains unverified. This is not necessarily a series load-current shunt
Local bypass capacitor C1Reduces noise between IC supply and cell referencePlace immediately beside supply/reference pins. Exact required capacitance remains unverified
Two external N-MOSFETs or suitable dual MOSFETBidirectional cutoff with opposite body-diode orientationConfirm actual internal topology, pinout, VDS/VGS ratings, low-voltage RDS(on), SOA and thermal behavior
Separate Li-ion charging circuitControls normal charge current and voltageMatch the cell specification; battery protection does not implement CC/CV charging
A manufacturer's example BOM could not be verified, so no resistor or capacitor numeric value is approved in this guide. Obtain the exact reference circuit before finalizing the support parts.
For current-path design, use the engineering relations Vdrop = I × Rpath and Ppath = I² × Rpath, including both MOSFET channels and the copper between the sense pickoff points. An approximate trip-current calculation also requires a verified current-detection threshold; that threshold remains unresolved here. Evaluate resistance versus gate voltage and temperature, not just a room-temperature headline value or MOSFET VGS(th).
There is no applicable LED series-resistor calculation, USB-C CC-pin requirement, or differential-data interface intrinsic to this protection IC.
4. PCB Layout & Routing Guidelines
These are engineering recommendations for the conventional topology, not claimed manufacturer-specific layout instructions:
  • Keep the bypass loop small: place C1 at the IC supply/reference pins, with a short return to B−. Keep it away from the main load-current return path.
  • Use separate sense branches: pick up B− at the cell-side switch connection and P− at the protected-side connection; avoid shared high-current trace sections that add unintended sensed voltage.
  • Size the entire power path: dimension B+/P+ copper, both switch connections, vias, pads, and connectors for normal current, temperature rise, and fault transients. No universal trace width is justified without copper thickness, current, layer geometry, and thermal limits.
  • Provide MOSFET thermal copper: use the device manufacturer's pad/thermal guidance. Avoid narrow thermal-relief spokes that compromise the current path; balance solderability against resistance and heat spreading.
  • Preserve the cutoff boundary: never flood B− and P− into a common ground zone. Keep gate/sense traces short and away from noisy switching nodes; differential-pair routing is not required for this IC.
5. Common Pitfalls / Things to Watch Out For
  1. Treating the protector as a charger, or bypassing its switch path. A cutoff threshold does not regulate charging. Connecting a load, charger, USB return, or test-ground lead directly to B− can defeat low-side protection. Verify the complete assembled product's return paths, not just the protection subcircuit.
  2. Buying an unspecified DW01A variant or choosing MOSFETs from threshold voltage alone. Manufacturer identity, protection thresholds, timing, low-cell-voltage behavior, pin 4, and package geometry require exact-part confirmation. MOSFET VGS(th) does not guarantee low-resistance operation at the available battery voltage. Characterize voltage cutoff, overload, short-circuit response, recovery, and temperature with controlled bench tests before product release.
Do not use a live cell for initial destructive fault testing. Begin with a current-limited cell simulator and controlled electronic load; use appropriately rated fixtures and containment for subsequent battery tests.
No drop-in replacement was verified. The two options below are verified functional alternatives from other manufacturers; neither is approved as a pin-compatible or footprint-compatible replacement. Popularity rankings were not verified.

Texas Instruments BQ29700DSETTI identifies it as a single-cell Li-ion/Li-polymer protector using external FETs, with voltage and current fault protection. TI product pageFunctionally similar only. TI specifies a six-pin DSE WSON package, not SOT23-6. Requires new footprint, pin mapping, support-circuit and factory-threshold review; present in Flux
Diodes Incorporated AP9101C familyManufacturer describes single-cell lithium battery protection with external MOSFET control and SOT25/SOT26 package choices. Manufacturer sourceFunctionally similar only. Exact orderable code and threshold/timing options must be chosen. Manufacturer currently labels the family NRND; do not prefer it for a new design solely because a package option resembles DW01A
Flux search found an AP9101CK6-ADTRG1 record, but it was marked obsolete; it is not presented as a supply-shortage recommendation. A family name or similar package is not evidence of a drop-in replacement.

AttributeDetails
Primary DistributorsThe confirmed listing for this variant is LCSC C2927799 — YONGYUTAI DW01A. Availability of the exact YONGYUTAI part at DigiKey, Mouser, or Arrow was not verified; do not assume they carry it
Packaging OptionsLCSC lists SOT-23-6 and a 3,000-piece full reel. SOT-23-6 describes the component package, not shipment packaging. Cut-tape/re-reeling service options were not independently verified
Standard MOQThe inspected LCSC listing showed 20 pieces minimum, in multiples of 20, and 3,000 pieces per full reel. These are distributor-specific terms, not a universal manufacturer MOQ; reconfirm at checkout
Sourcing AdviceOrder by manufacturer + complete MPN + distributor identifier, not “DW01A” alone. Obtain traceable stock and the applicable manufacturer datasheet; check package, reel size, labeling, and any ordering suffixes. Avoid untraceable marketplace lots. Manufacturer-authorized/franchised status of this LCSC listing was not independently verified
Live stock and pricing are deliberately omitted because no reliable current inventory quote was obtained. A full-reel quantity does not establish a one-reel purchase requirement.
