  1. Tentukan tujuan fungsi (dekupel, filter, timing, kopling, dsb.).
  2. Pilih rumus cutoff jika ada (filter/high-pass/low-pass).
  3. Perkirakan impedansi referensi (R_load atau R_source).
  4. Hitung C dengan C=12πR FcC = \frac{1}{2\pi R \, F_c}C=2πRFc​1​ jika relevan.
  5. Pilih nilai kapasitor terdekat di E6/E12/E24 (misal 47 nF bukan 50 nF).
  6. Perhatikan tegangan kerja (V_rating ≥ 1,5× tegangan maksimum).
Contoh sederhana: untuk kopling audio antara tahap dengan R_load = 10 kΩ dan Fc = 20 Hz:
C = 1/(2π·10 000·20) ≈ 0,8 µF → pakai 1 µF (E6/E12).
