PCM3168 Audio Circuit

I’ll create a DAC-only circuit: Raspberry Pi digital audio/control into the PCM3168A, all eight DAC channels converted to single-ended buffered outputs with NE5532 stages, plus the required regulated supplies, clock/reset, filtering, and decoupling. ADC inputs and external volume-control circuitry will be omitted.

  • 24V input protection and 5V buck: from scratch unless a focused validated reference is found; exact regulator application circuit and load budget required.
  • Low-noise 3.3V digital rail: from scratch or imported focused LDO reference if available; derived from regulated 5V, not Raspberry Pi 3V3.
  • Raspberry Pi digital interface: from scratch; one I2C pull-up pair to Pi 3V3 reference, multichannel serial audio and external MCLK explicitly exposed.
  • PCM3168A codec core: from scratch using TI datasheet; DAC-only, all ADC pins intentionally handled per datasheet.

I finalized the DAC-only architecture, but no schematic components were added because no ACUs are currently available.
Remaining implementation:
  • PCM3168A with Raspberry Pi I²S/TDM, MCLK, I²C, reset, and address straps
  • Protected 24 V → 5 V codec supply and low-noise 3.3 V rail
  • Four NE5532s on external ±12 V rails
  • Eight differential-to-single-ended filtered outputs for the TDA7498E
  • Full decoupling, unused ADC-pin handling, connectors, and ERC verification
