Flux Product Design Workflow

Briefly describe what it's like to design a complete product in Flux. Help me understand what the PCB-first and enclosure-first design workflows are like to work with.
Designing a complete product in Flux is an iterative workflow where the electronics, PCB layout, firmware, and mechanical enclosure stay in one project and are refined together.
  • PCB-first: Define requirements → design and verify the schematic → size, place, and route the PCB → build the enclosure around the finished board. This is best when electrical performance, connector placement, antenna clearance, or board cost drives the product.
  • Enclosure-first: Define how the product is held, mounted, and used → establish the enclosure, controls, ports, and internal envelope → design the PCB to fit those mechanical constraints. This is best for wearables, handheld products, tightly packaged devices, and products with a strong industrial-design target.
In both workflows, Flux can help select parts, capture and review the circuit, lay out the board, create parametric enclosure geometry, check physical fit, prepare firmware and bring-up documentation, and generate manufacturing outputs. You move through explicit checkpoints rather than treating the PCB and enclosure as independent artifacts.
No project changes were made in this session. Execution stopped because your ACUs ran out.

Software & Tools
Everything you need to flash, run, and manage the ESP32 x86 PC Emulator, organized by purpose and operating system. Electronics design tooling is not listed here — that's Flux.ai, where you're already reading this.
Required — for flashing the firmware
These are needed to compile and upload the firmware to the board.

USB-UART driver (CH340C)
The board uses a CH340C USB-to-serial chip. Most modern systems detect it automatically, but if no port appears, install the official driver from WCH:

A note on compatibility
This is an XT-class machine (8086/8088 CPU, CGA/Hercules graphics, 640KB RAM). Stick to 1981–1991 era software for the best results. Programs requiring a 286/386+ CPU, EGA/VGA graphics, or more than 640KB of memory will not run.
A good first install: Norton Commander — a dual-pane file manager that makes navigating DOS far easier than typing commands.
