LED Blinker Circuit Design

0:00

Schematic built (1 Hz NE555 blinker) Components added
  • U1 (NE555P DIP-8) configured astable
  • Timing network: R1 = 47k, R2 = 47k, C1 = 10uF
  • LED output: R3 = 680, LED1 (red LED)
  • Supply decoupling: C2 = 100nF (VCC to GND), C3 = 10nF (CV to GND)
  • Power input + switch: BT1 (9V snap), SW1 (SPST THT switch footprint)
  • Ground reference: GND
Key connections (astable + LED)
  • U1 astable wiring:
    • TR and THR tied together to timing node with C1 to GND
    • DIS to junction of R1 and R2
    • RESET tied to VCC
    • CV decoupled by C3 to GND
  • LED: OUT -> R3 -> LED1 -> GND
  • Power path: BT1 (+) -> SW1 -> VCC net, and BT1 (-) -> GND
Frequency check
With R1=47k, R2=47k, C1=10uF, calculated blink frequency is about 1.02 Hz (close to 1 Hz).
Outstanding issues (needs follow-up)
  • ERC still reports Missing Power on U1 even though VCC/GND are connected (likely a symbol pin-type/power-net classification issue in the library symbol).
  • DRC “Manufacturer Part Number” warnings are present for generic passives (R1, R2, R3, C1, C2, C3) and SW1 (expected at this stage unless you want fully sourced MPNs right now).
If you want, I can resolve the ERC “Missing Power” by swapping U1 to an alternate NE555 library symbol that properly flags its VCC/GND pins as power pins (while keeping the same DIP-8 footprint and all wiring).
