PCB Design for Power Supply

  1. Create the Schematic and Assign Footprints
    • Add each component to your schematic (e.g., the HLK-5M05, terminal block, fuse, MOV, choke, X2 capacitor, TVS diode, electrolytic and ceramic capacitors, LED, resistor, USB Type-A connector, etc.)
    • Wire the schematic as specified (using the proper nets for AC and DC sections).
    • Ensure that components with safety requirements (like AC input parts and EMI filters) are grouped on the left and that the DC output components are grouped on the right.
  2. Design the PCB Layout
    • Switch to the PCB layout editor and set the board boundary to 60 mm x 40 mm (double-sided FR4, 1.6 mm thick).
    • Place components following your placement guidelines, making sure to keep a minimum clearance of 3 mm between AC and DC areas.
    • Route the AC traces on the top layer at 1.5 mm wide and the DC traces on the bottom layer at 1 mm wide.
    • Assign a ground plane on the bottom layer covering the DC section.
  3. Export Gerber Files
    • Once your design is complete and verified by running the Flux DRC, use Flux’s export functionality to generate your Gerber files and drill file (Excellon format).
    • To do this, open the export menu in Flux (refer to the Flux Gerber Export documentation) and select the layers you need:
    • F.Cu (top copper)
    • B.Cu (bottom copper)
    • F.Silkscreen
    • B.Silkscreen
    • Edge.Cuts
      Also, include the drill file (.drl) in a single zip folder.
