NE555 Astable Multivibrator Circuit Design

Create a NE555 astable multivibrator circuit.
Supply voltage: 5V
Components:
  • NE555 timer
  • R1 = 1k ohm
  • R2 = 10k ohm
  • C1 = 10uF
  • C2 = 0.01uF from control pin to ground
  • LED with 330 ohm resistor on output
Connections:
  • Pin 8 (VCC) to +5V
  • Pin 1 (GND) to ground
  • Pin 4 (RESET) to +5V
  • Pin 7 (DISCHARGE) between R1 and R2
  • Pins 2 (TRIGGER) and 6 (THRESHOLD) connected together
  • C1 from pins 2/6 to ground
  • Output pin 3 connected to LED and 330 ohm resistor to ground

  • C1 = 10 µF from pins 2/6 to GND
  • C2 = 0.01 µF from CONTROL pin 5 to GND
  • RESET pin 4 tied to +5 V
  • VCC pin 8 to +5 V
  • GND pin 1 to GND
  • Output pin 3 driving LED through 330 Ω to GND
Expected astable timing from the given values:
  • Frequency ≈ 6.56 Hz
  • Period ≈ 152 ms
  • High time ≈ 76 ms
  • Low time ≈ 69 ms
  • Duty cycle ≈ 52%
