NASA Battery Control Board

Need to build a control board for batteries on an ev and they need to be in accordance with NASA and FCC standards as they would go on a lunar craft.
No design work has been started; the project is currently empty. Execution is unavailable because the account has no available ACUs.
Remaining work:
  • Define battery chemistry, series/parallel configuration, voltage/current, charging source, redundancy, and thermal environment.
  • Establish applicable NASA program requirements (electrical power, battery safety, fault tolerance, radiation, workmanship, EMC, and verification). FCC rules generally apply only if the board contains an intentional radiator; spacecraft EMC requirements are separate.
  • Produce the system architecture, hazard/FMEA analysis, schematic, PCB, component derating/radiation strategy, and qualification/acceptance test plan.
This is safety-critical aerospace hardware and will require review and approval by the mission’s responsible NASA engineering and safety authorities.
