WiFi Water Flow Meter Design

Start PCB placement with boost loop tight, connectors at edges, and ESP32 antenna keepout enforced.
I’ll set up PCB placement with edge connectors, a compact BD8314 boost power loop, and ESP32 antenna clearance before routing.

Inspecting board layout
I need to check the board size and maybe inspect the layout summary. It seems that I might need to load the layout first. I think I’ve got it, though! I can use the tool to help with the commentary. It's important I get this right so that I can understand how everything fits

Firmware Notes
MCU
ESP32-WROOM module powered from 3.3 V.
Pin Map
  • UART0 TX/RX: programming header J3.
  • RS485 TX: GPIO17 to U4 DI.
  • RS485 RX: GPIO16 from U4 RO.
  • RS485 direction enable: GPIO4 drives U4 DE and /RE.
  • WiFi status LED: GPIO21.
  • Flow/activity LED: GPIO22.
  • BOOT: GPIO0 button/header.
  • RESET/EN: EN button/header with 10 kΩ pull-up and 1 µF RC delay.
Startup Tasks
  1. Initialize WiFi and telemetry transport.
  2. Configure GPIO4 low for RS485 receive by default.
  3. Configure UART for the sensor protocol baud rate.
  4. Poll or listen for external ultrasonic sensor frames.
  5. Convert sensor flow-rate reports to application units and integrate total volume in nonvolatile storage.
Notes
Exact RS485 protocol framing, baud rate, scaling, and totalizer reset behavior must be matched to the selected ultrasonic sensor model datasheet/manual. GPIO2 and GPIO5 are intentionally left unused to avoid status LED bias on ESP32 strapping pins.
