Enclosure Design Notes
Scope
Two-piece, unventilated enclosure for the 120 mm × 40 mm 9V LED Blinker PCB. The design provides a battery-access opening, switch opening, recessed LED opening, and PCB support bosses aligned to the existing mounting holes.
Source Geometry
- PCB outline: 120 mm × 40 mm; thickness 1.30 mm.
- Mounting holes: 3.5 mm diameter at PCB coordinates (-38.8836, 11.0000) mm and (-7.6362, 11.0000) mm.
- LED optical center: (-55.6671, -17.1136) mm.
- Switch center: (-57.6671, 8.2959) mm; placed against the left edge.
- Battery holder center: (29.6061, -0.0542) mm; footprint envelope 54.85 mm × 30.5 mm.
Enclosure Geometry
- Exterior: 126 mm × 46 mm × 21.5 mm.
- Nominal walls: 2.0 mm.
- Base floor: 2.4 mm.
- PCB XY clearance inside walls: 1.0 mm per edge.
- PCB standoff height: 4.0 mm.
- Corner radius: 3.0 mm.
- No ventilation openings.
M3 PCB Mounting
- Two 8.0 mm OD bosses are centered exactly on the existing 3.5 mm PCB holes.
- Screw clearance bore: 3.4 mm.
- Underside captive M3 hex-nut pocket: 5.7 mm across flats allowance, 2.7 mm deep.
- The screws pass through the lid and PCB into the captive nuts. Select screw length after printing based on the final lid-to-base stack.
User Interfaces
LED
The LTL-307EE has a 5.0 mm lens, 5.8 mm flange, and 8.6 mm nominal height. A recessed cup contains a 5.6 mm drill-like opening: the lens passes through while the flange remains inside. The cup surface is set for approximately 0.45 mm nominal tip protrusion when the LED is fully seated.
Switch
The left-wall slot is 11.2 mm long, providing 0.6 mm clearance at each end around the 10 mm switch body. It spans the base/lid seam so the switch remains accessible and its interface aligns with the exterior side wall. The slot height is parametric because the source drawing did not expose every actuator dimension in machine-readable form.
Battery
The lid opening is 56.85 mm × 32.5 mm, centered on the battery holder. This gives 1.0 mm clearance around the actual 54.85 mm × 30.5 mm footprint envelope and permits top-side battery replacement.
Verification
- Boss-to-hole center error: 0 mm for both mounting locations.
- LED-hole center error: 0 mm.
- Battery opening center error: 0 mm; minimum envelope margin 1.0 mm.
- Switch slot margin: 0.6 mm per end.
- LED nominal protrusion: 0.45 mm.
Manufacturing Notes
The CAD file is parametric OpenSCAD and supports assembly, base-only, lid-only, and print-layout views. Print a low-height test section around the switch before committing to a full enclosure; adjust switch_slot_z0 and switch_slot_z1 if the physical actuator differs from the library model. Recommended starting material is PETG or ABS; PLA is acceptable for indoor prototypes away from heat.
