STM32F446 CNC Motion Controller Design

Yes.
You can view the work directly in Flux here:
Where to look:
  • PCB / Layout view — see the updated 120 × 120 mm, 4-layer placement
  • Schematic view — see the STM32F446 CNC controller schematic
  • Files tab — open:
    • Proof of Layout Work — 120 mm 4-Layer Update
    • Design Notes — Routing and Manufacturing
    • Firmware Starter STM32F446 CNC Laser Controller
You can inspect the board, zoom around, check parts, then return to this chat and continue from here.
Open the PCB layout and point me to the placement view.
I can’t directly open the Flux UI for you, but here’s exactly where to go:
  1. In the left/top project navigation, select PCB or Layout view.
  2. Once in the PCB layout:
    • Zoom out to see the full 120 mm × 120 mm board.
    • The STM32 MCU U1 should be near the center.
    • USB connector J1 should be on the left edge.
    • Limit/input header J6 should also be on the left edge.
    • Motion output header J5 should be on the right-side area.
    • Power section parts F1, U2, L1, D3, C11/C12 should be in the upper-right area.
  3. To verify the saved proof file, open the Files tab and select:
Proof of Layout Work — 120 mm 4-Layer Update
After you inspect the layout, come back here and we can either adjust placement or start a fresh routing pass.

Proof of Layout Work — 120 mm 4-Layer Update
Date: 2026-05-28
Saved PCB Setup
Live layout readback after the update reports:
  • Board size: 120 mm × 120 mm
  • Board shape: rectangle
  • Corner radius: 1 mm
  • Copper layers: 4
  • Components/elements placed: 82
  • Nets: 74
  • Footprints: 82
  • Pads: 307
  • Existing routed copper nodes after prior route attempt: 940 route segments, 316 vias, 157 smart vias
Stackup Intent
The board was changed from the prior 100 mm × 100 mm / 2-layer target to a 4-layer layout intended as:
  1. Top: components and primary signal routing
  2. Inner layer 1: GND reference plane
  3. Inner layer 2: power plane / power distribution
  4. Bottom: secondary signal routing
Placement Evidence
The placement was re-run for the 120 mm × 120 mm board. Live component coordinate readback shows major functional blocks moved to these locations:

Table

BlockEvidence from live layout
MCUU1 at center: X=0 mm, Y=0 mm
CrystalY1 near MCU: X=-11 mm, Y=1.5 mm
USBJ1 on left edge: X=-57 mm, Y=12 mm
Limits/input headerJ6 on left edge: X=-57 mm, Y=0 mm
UART headerJ7 near lower edge: X=-15 mm, Y=-57 mm
Motion headerJ5 on right-side region: X=35 mm, Y=10 mm
Motion bufferU4 near motion header: X=22 mm, Y=0 mm
Buck regulatorU2 in upper-right power region: X=36 mm, Y=34 mm
Buck inductorL1 in power region: X=24 mm, Y=48 mm
Input fuseF1 upper-right edge: X=50 mm, Y=55 mm
SWD headerJ2 near top edge: X=35 mm, Y=57 mm
Routing Congestion Improvement
Before resizing/replacement, layout analysis reported severe congestion near U1/U4/J7.
After resizing to 120 mm × 120 mm and re-placement, live layout analysis reports:
Routing looks fine — there is enough space everywhere for traces to be routed without difficulty.
Current Review Status
After re-placement, many airwires are expected because moved parts invalidate the previous partial routing and the board needs a fresh routing pass. The layout is now positioned for rerouting; it is not being claimed as fully routed.
