Temperature and Humidity Sensor Node Design

Current state: no schematic work has been executed yet in the project. The project is still empty, so nothing has been placed, wired, or validated.
What I would build for your spec:
  • USB-C 5 V sink-only power entry with 5.1 kOhm CC resistors
  • Front-end protection covering reverse input protection plus OVP/UVLO/OCP sized for 0.5 A to 3 A source capability
  • High-efficiency 3.3 V rail for the logic domain
  • Low-power dual-radio MCU with 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi b/g/n + BLE 5.x, most likely an ESP32-C3 or ESP32-C6 class device depending your Bluetooth/Wi-Fi tradeoff
  • Digital temperature/RH sensor on I2C, consumer-grade, low power, likely SHT4x or AHT20-class only after datasheet confirmation
  • Required support circuitry: decoupling, reset/boot strapping, antenna keepout considerations, programming/debug header or USB-UART access, status LED if desired
What remains to be done:
  1. Define the exact MCU and sensor from datasheets
  2. Calculate the full power budget and select the protection/power-path parts accordingly
  3. Draw the full schematic with all support passives
  4. Run electrical review and fix all violations
  5. Then, with your approval, move into PCB layout, placement, and routing
Important note on your requirement:
  • “Plan for 0.5–3 A sources” means the node should safely accept USB-C sources capable of supplying anywhere in that range; it does not mean the node itself should consume 3 A. The protection and connector path should be rated accordingly.
Because execution is currently unavailable, I can’t build the schematic in-project right now. Once execution is available again, I’ll start with the power-path sizing and datasheet-grounded part selection, then complete the schematic end-to-end. Ready when you are.
