Project Specification
User Requirements
  • 55 mm x 20 mm PCB.
  • Powered by a 3.7 V rechargeable LiPo battery.
  • Battery connects to PCB using a JST connector.
  • USB-C charging input on the left side of the PCB.
  • Brushless fan powered from the battery rail and connected through a JST connector in the middle of the PCB.
  • 8 surface-mount white LEDs located along the top of the board.
  • Separate surface-mount switches for fan and light, both on the right side of the PCB.
Working Assumptions
  • Single-cell LiPo battery, nominal 3.7 V, max charge 4.2 V.
  • Fan is a 2-wire 3.7 V or 5 V tolerant brushless DC fan powered directly from the battery rail through its switch. Exact fan current is not specified; design target will allow at least 500 mA fan current unless a selected connector/switch/charger limits it.
  • LEDs are white SMD indicator/illumination LEDs, driven from battery through current-limiting resistors and a light switch. LED current will be chosen conservatively for battery operation and thermal limits on a 55 mm x 20 mm board.
  • USB-C port is used for 5 V charging only; no USB data connection required.
Planned Functional Blocks
  1. USB-C power input with CC pull-down resistors.
  2. Single-cell LiPo charger IC with required input/output capacitors and charge-current programming.
  3. Battery JST connector on BAT/GND.
  4. Fan JST connector switched from the battery rail.
  5. 8 white LED channels or series/parallel groups with current-limiting resistors switched from the battery rail.
  6. PCB layout constraints: USB-C left, switches right, LEDs top, JST connectors middle.
