LED Blinker Circuit Design

I’ll build a hand-solderable 9V-battery LED blinker using a through-hole 555 timer in astable mode, with the switch in series with the battery, proper decoupling, and then I’ll run checks to clean up any schematic issues.

Here's a summary of what I was working on: Figuring out library needs
I need to work on a schematic and figure out the library for the NE555P, which seems like a generic part. First, I should make sure I have the right library set up before moving on to the datasheet query. After adding the part, I'll need to check the package property configuration too. It feels a bit overwhelming, but I’m just making sure I have everything lined up for a smooth process!

Project Specification
Goal
Hand-solderable 9V battery powered 555 timer circuit that blinks a red LED once per second through an on/off switch.
Key requirements
  • Power source: 9V block battery.
  • Power control: maintained on/off switch in series with battery positive.
  • Output: red LED blink rate approximately 1 Hz.
  • Construction: through-hole / hand-solderable components where available.
  • Core circuit: 555 timer in astable configuration.
Initial design choices
  • Timing target: about 1 Hz using standard 555 astable timing.
  • Candidate timing values: RA = 47kΩ, RB = 47kΩ, C = 10uF gives approximately 1.02 Hz.
  • LED current target: low single-digit mA for battery life; 1.5kΩ series resistor from 9V gives roughly 4–5 mA with a red LED.
Validation plan
  • Confirm 555 pinout and recommended astable/support components from datasheet.
  • Add through-hole parts and wire all power, ground, timing, reset/control, and LED paths.
  • Run schematic review and fix any electrical issues before moving to PCB layout.
