LED Blinker Circuit Design

Schematic complete: 9V, 1 Hz CMOS-555 LED blinker Added parts (all through-hole)
  • Timer: U1 (CMOS 555, TLC555CP DIP-8)
  • LED + resistor: LED1 (red anode used) + R1 (680 ohm, axial)
  • Timing network: R2 (330k), R3 (330k), C1 (1.5 uF)
  • Decoupling: C2 (100 nF)
  • Power input + switch: BT1 (9V battery clip) + S1 (SPST toggle)
Key connections (555 astable @ ~1 Hz)
  • Power path:
    • BT1 P -> S1 COM on net +9V_RAW
    • S1 NO -> U1 VDD on net +9V_SW
    • BT1 N -> GND
  • 555 astable wiring:
    • U1 RESET tied to VDD (net +9V_SW)
    • U1 TRIG tied to THRES (net ASTABLE_NODE)
    • R2 from +9V_SW to RB_TO_DISCH
    • R3 from RB_TO_DISCH to ASTABLE_NODE
    • U1 DISCH tied to ASTABLE_NODE
    • C1 from ASTABLE_NODE to GND
    • U1 CONT tied to GND
  • LED output:
    • U1 OUT -> R1 -> LED1 ANODE_RED, with LED1 COMMON_CATHODE to GND
Frequency check
With R2 = 330k, R3 = 330k, C1 = 1.5 uF, the expected oscillation is about 0.97 Hz (close to 1 Hz).
PCB layout status
  • All parts have footprints (DRC “Missing Footprints” is clean).
  • I set a simple board size constraint (80 mm x 50 mm) to keep the layout minimal.
  • Note: I cannot auto-place/auto-route for you here yet, but the project is ready for manual placement and routing (keep C2 right next to U1 VDD/GND).
