Modular PCB Design with Encoders

a pcb, with 8 encoders and an IC chip. The encoders must be clickable and high-resolution. Because this is for a modular pcb design, because it must be mounted in a 3d structure, make the i2c output lanes, the ones' that go to the 12c input pins of the raspberry pi 4, design it in a way, that i can connect this to another pcb with a ribbon cable that it's adequate to transport 12c data, with it's connectors in the pcb, for one end of the ribbon cable to able to connect to this pcb

What remains to be done:
  • Select 8 high-resolution clickable rotary encoders.
  • Select an IC to read the encoders and expose them over I2C, likely an encoder/counter GPIO expander or small MCU.
  • Add an I2C ribbon-cable connector compatible with Raspberry Pi 4 I2C: SDA, SCL, 3.3V, GND, and optionally interrupt/reset lines.
  • Define board size, mounting holes, encoder spacing, and connector placement for the 3D structure.
  • Create schematic, verify pull-ups/voltage levels, then place and route the PCB.
Once ACUs are available, I can proceed with the full design.
