Access Reader Design

Pick-and-Place.

Regulatory and Safety Notes - Access Reader
Status
Preliminary design-stage notes. This is not a certification report. It identifies documents and design evidence that must be produced as the schematic and layout mature.
Applicable Categories
  • Wireless intentional radiators: ESP32-S3 Wi-Fi/BLE module, 13.56 MHz NFC reader, 125 kHz LF reader.
  • Wired communications: Ethernet/PoE, RS-485, Wiegand, USB service.
  • SELV power: 9 to 32 V DC and PoE 802.3af; no mains input on the PCB.
  • Access-control equipment with relay outputs for locks/turnstiles.

Design Requirements Added From Compliance Review
  • Do not depend solely on ESP32 module certification; final product still needs EMC/RF verification because NFC and LF are intentional radiators.
  • Document all antenna keepouts and integration conditions.
  • Treat RJ45/PoE, DC input, RS-485, Wiegand and relay terminals as external-port EMC risk points.
  • Create user manual warnings that relay outputs are dry contacts only and do not power locks.
  • Add test points and labels needed for production self-test and certification troubleshooting.
