Blinking LED Circuit Design

You want a 9V-battery-powered circuit that blinks a red LED at ~1 Hz, with an on/off SPST switch, using easy hand-solderable (through-hole) parts.
    1. Add 9V battery input + SPST switch and define a switched 9V rail
    1. Add a through-hole 555 timer (DIP-8) and wire it in astable mode
    1. Add timing R/C parts sized for ~1 blink/second
    1. Add a through-hole red LED + current-limit resistor on the 555 output, plus a decoupling cap
    1. Check ERC/DRC and finalize footprints/BOM for hand soldering
