Raspberry Pi CM5 Minimal Circuit Design

Add Raspberry Pi Compute module 5, and then add the minimum required set of components needed to run a simple project using the CM5. Keep the design as minimal and practical as possible while ensuring the module can boot and operate reliably. Include only the essential supporting circuitry: Power input and regulation Decoupling capacitors Required clocks or pull-ups/pull-downs Avoid unnecessary features or complex expansion circuitry Optimize for simplicity and fast prototyping Keep the BOM as small as possible.

Thought for a moment

I’m blocked from making project changes because execution credits are unavailable, so I could not add components or modify the schematic.
Current project state:
  • No components added.
  • No nets or wiring created.
  • Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 circuitry has not been placed yet.
Recommended minimal CM5 schematic scope when work resumes:
  • CM5 connector/module symbol and footprint.
  • 5 V power input sized for CM5 peak current.
  • 5 V protection/input filtering as needed for reliable prototyping.
  • Required local bulk and high-frequency decoupling on the CM5 power rails.
  • Power enable / run / reset pull resistors as required by the CM5 datasheet.
  • Boot-mode straps only if required for the intended boot source.
  • Minimal status/test points for 5 V, 3.3 V, GND, RUN, and boot/debug signals.
  • No USB, Ethernet, HDMI, PCIe, camera/display, GPIO expansion, or other extras unless you explicitly want them.
Before implementation, the CM5 datasheet and hardware design guide should be checked for exact connector pinout, supply sequencing, current requirements, mandatory pull-ups/pull-downs, and any boot strap requirements.
