Pin Function Grouping


Grouped the nRF52832-QFAA-R terminals by datasheet-backed function with each pin assigned to exactly one Pin Group, and set Section equal to Pin Group for every terminal. Groups applied: Power, Ground, Regulator Decoupling, GPIO, Analog GPIO, NFC, Debug, Trace, Reset, RF, and Crystal.
Open item:
  • Datasheet pin 44 is NC, but I did not see an existing NC terminal in the current part project to group.
Suggested next steps:
  1. Add/restore an NC terminal for pin 44 if you want the symbol to represent all 48 package pins plus exposed pad.
  2. Review the symbol visually and adjust group ordering/orientation if you prefer a different layout style.
  3. Add pin descriptions for any alternate functions you want emphasized more strongly.
  • Make the functional group more general.
  • Add a Section property to all pins, and apply the same value used in the Pin Group property to each pin's Section property.
Assign a Terminal Order from 1 to 10, starting with Power. Power should be Terminal Order 1, and Ground should be last, Terminal Order 10. For Orientation, set Power to "Top" and Ground to "Bottom." For the remaining sections/groups, you may decide the Terminal Order and Orientation yourself. For Orientation, distribute them between "Left" and "Right" — don't put everything on one side. Each group/section should have a different orientation.
I’ll simplify the pin groups, mirror each Pin Group into Section, set group-level Terminal Order 1–10 with Power first and Ground last, and then verify the assignments.
Updated the pin organization to broader groups and verified Section now matches Pin Group on all existing terminals. Power is Terminal Order 1 / Top, Ground is Terminal Order 10 / Bottom, and the remaining groups are distributed Left/Right with orders 2–8.
Open item:
  • Pin 44 NC still is not present as an existing terminal, so it was not grouped.
Suggested next steps:
  1. Add an NC terminal for pin 44 if you want complete package coverage.
  2. Review the rendered symbol for visual spacing.
  3. Adjust group names if you prefer even fewer groups, e.g. merge Interface/Control into GPIO.
