Part Data Audit and Updates

I reviewed the part project against the official Samtec documentation and used the datasheet as the source of truth for exact pin-count checking and metadata verification, which is the right workflow for part audits
  • I added the missing Datasheet URL property and set it to the official Samtec print PDF: Datasheet
Audit summary

Table

AreaResultNotes
Datasheet URLUpdatedMissing before; now set to official Samtec PDF
ManufacturerMatchProject says Samtec; official docs also say Samtec
Part typeMatchProject says Connector; official docs describe an SMT terminal strip / micro header
Pin countMatchDatasheet family says 5 positions per row, double vertical, so 10 total contacts
Schematic symbol pin countMatchProject has 10 terminal elements numbered 01-10
Footprint pad countMatchProject footprint has 10 pads numbered 01-10
Pin numberingMatchNumbering present as 01-10 in both symbol and footprint
Pin descriptionsIncompleteNo pin-description metadata is present in the part project
Package / case metadataMissing / ambiguousNo explicit Package or Case Code property is set
Project descriptionPartly incorrectSeveral specs in the description do not match the official Samtec sheet
Key specs from the official Samtec docs
From the official Samtec FTSH family documents I found:
  • Series description: .050" x .050" CL double vertical SMT terminal strip
  • Pitch: 1.27 mm
  • Configuration: double vertical
  • Positions: 5 per row for the 105 variant, so 2 x 5 = 10 contacts
  • Insulator material: Black Liquid Crystal Polymer
  • Terminal material: Phosphor Bronze
  • Current rating: 1.75 A at 80 C ambient
  • Operating temperature: -65 C to +125 C
  • Lead style -01: 3.05 mm mating post length
  • Recommended footprint sheet for the DV family exists separately and gives 1.27 mm pad pitch plus the family land-pattern dimensions for this series. For the 2x5 case it includes values derived from 5 positions and a pad size callout of 0.74 mm in the extracted footprint text.
Mismatches and concerns
The biggest issues are in the current project description:

Table

Item in current descriptionOfficial doc findingStatus
Current rating ~3.4 A per contactOfficial factsheet says 1.75 A @ 80 C ambientMismatch
Operating temperature -55 C to +125 COfficial factsheet says -65 C to +125 CMismatch
“Gold-plated contacts”Official ordering format shows plating is option-dependent (-L, -F, -S, -H, etc.)Too specific / potentially wrong
“10 position dual row, 1.27 mm pitch, SMT, male pins”Consistent with official docsGood
Mating pin length ~3.05 mmMatches lead style -01Good
Symbol / pin audit
What I could confirm:
  • The part project contains exactly 10 terminal elements, which matches the datasheet-derived 10 contacts.
  • The terminal numbering is 01 through 10, and the footprint pads are also 01 through 10.
  • All terminals are set to Passive, which is appropriate for a connector contact.
  • I did not find richer pin-description metadata in the symbol. Since this connector is just numbered contacts, that is not an electrical mismatch, but it does mean the part is less descriptive than it could be.
Footprint audit
What I could confirm:
  • The project footprint is clearly the correct class of footprint: 10 pads, dual-row Samtec FTSH-style, with numbering 01-10.
  • The official Samtec footprint document for the DV family gives the expected land-pattern math for a 2x5 version and confirms 1.27 mm pitch.
  • However, the project data exposed to me did not include full pad-coordinate geometry, so I could not numerically verify every pad dimension and row-to-row spacing inside the project itself. So the footprint is structurally consistent, but the final dimensional check is partial, not exhaustive.
Recommended cleanup
I’d flag these as the next fixes to make:
  • Update the project description to remove the incorrect current and temperature values.
  • Replace plating-specific language unless you also replace the wildcard MPN with an exact orderable plating variant.
  • Add Package or Case Code if you want the part metadata to be more complete.
  • Optionally add pin descriptions like Contact 1, Contact 2, etc. for clarity, even though the datasheet mainly uses numbering.
If you want, I can next:
  • correct the inaccurate description,
  • add missing metadata fields,
  • and standardize the pin descriptions for all 10 contacts.
Correct the metadata
Use exact plating variant
Check footprint dimensions

Connector Header Surface Mount 10 position 0.050" (1.27mm) It is a 2-row, 10-position (2×5) male pin header with a 1.27 mm (0.050″) pitch, commonly used in high-density PCB designs. The connector features a surface-mount (SMT) configuration and an unshrouded design, making it suitable for applications where space is limited and flexible mating is required. Pitch: 1.27 mm (fine pitch for compact layouts) Positions: 10 contacts (dual row) Mounting Type: Surface-mount (SMT) Contact Type: Male pins (square post) Contact Material: Phosphor bronze with gold plating (good conductivity & corrosion resistance) Current Rating: ~3.4 A per contact Operating Temperature: −55 °C to +125 °C Insulator Material: LCP (high-temperature, SMT-compatible plastic) Mating Pin Length: ~3.05 mm Unshrouded header → easier alignment flexibility but no polarization protection Dual-row layout → increases connection density Cuttable strip → can be customized to shorter lengths Gold-plated contacts → improves durability for repeated mating cycles Board-to-board interconnections Embedded systems and compact electronics Industrial control and automation Telecommunications and consumer devices #CommonPartsLibrary #Connector #FTSH
