RST Pin Functionality Overview

You’re pointing at RST, which is a Net Portal (a named net), not a device with its own datasheet. In this project, RST ties to the ESP32 module’s enable/reset pin: U1 EN (a.k.a. CHIP_EN). Below are the EN/CHIP_EN pin details taken from the module datasheet.

  • Function
    • High: chip enabled (powered up).
    • Low: chip disabled (powered down).
    • Do not leave floating.
  • Pin type and direction
    • Digital input (chip enable/reset).
  • Input characteristics (DC, 3.3 V, 25 C)
    • High-level input threshold (VIH): at least 0.75 * VDD1
    • Low-level input threshold (VIL): at most 0.25 * VDD1
    • Input leakage currents: IIH <= 50 nA, IIL <= 50 nA
    • Default biasing: internally pulled up
  • Recommended external network (from module datasheet)
    • 10 kΩ pull-up to VDD33
    • 1 µF capacitor from EN to GND
  • Special considerations
    • Keep EN’s RC network close to U1 to reduce noise coupling.
    • Since EN controls full chip power-down, avoid long/noisy traces and ensure a solid pull-up so it cannot float.
    • For reliable power-on reset behavior, follow the 10 kΩ + 1 µF recommendation above.
    • General MCU reset best practice: include a pull-up on reset/enable lines; diagnose EMI or supply sags if you observe spurious resets.
