PCB-First vs Enclosure-First Design

Briefly describe what it's like to design a complete product in Flux. Help me understand what the PCB-first and enclosure-first design workflows are like to work with.
Designing a complete product in Flux is iterative: I help define requirements, develop the electronics and mechanical design, check how they fit together, and prepare for prototyping and manufacturing.
  • PCB-first: Start with the circuit, component selection, and PCB layout, then design an enclosure around the board and connectors. This works well when electrical performance or connector placement drives the product; the housing may need to accommodate those decisions.
  • Enclosure-first: Start with the product’s shape, size, mounting, and user-facing ports, then design the PCB to fit that envelope. This works well when appearance or physical fit matters most; the electronics may need tighter placement or multiple boards.
Both workflows involve revisiting earlier decisions as constraints emerge—not completing one side in isolation. I haven’t changed your project this turn; this was an overview only. Execution stopped because your ACUs ran out.
