You want to update this pet tracker by removing GPS and adding NFC, and also add/verify USB-C.

- Remove the GPS subsystem: U2, J2, and the RF/support parts like L1 and R3 (plus related nets/labels).
- Add an NFC subsystem (NFC IC/module + antenna/matching + passives) and connect it to the MCU U4.
- Review and ensure the existing USB-C connector J3 has the required supporting circuitry for your intended use (power-only vs data).
- Run ERC and update the BOM, and note any PCB/layout implications (NFC antenna keepout, connector placement).

- Modify the Pet Tracker Device project to remove the existing GPS subsystem and integrate an NFC subsystem, while ensuring proper USB Type-C connectivity is present and functional.

- Select and add an NFC IC/module suitable for the pet tracker use case.
- Add the necessary antenna, matching network, and passive components.
- Connect the NFC subsystem to the MCU (STM32L442KCU6) with proper interfacing and signal routing.
- Examine and Verify USB Type-C Connectivity
- Review the USB-C connector J3 (TYPE-C-31-M-12) implementation in the schematic.
- Ensure that all required USB Type-C circuitry (CC configuration, VBUS path/protection, ESD protection) is in place.
- Confirm functionality for the intended use case (whether power only or data connectivity).
- **System and Schematic Verification
- Run electrical rule checks (ERC) to confirm that all modifications meet required electrical standards.
- Update the bill of materials (BOM) to reflect component removal and additions.
- Document any changes affecting PCB layout, such as NFC antenna keepout zones and connector placement changes.
#Success criteria
- The GPS subsystem is completely removed from the schematic with no residual connections or components.
- An NFC subsystem is successfully integrated with all necessary passive and matching components connected to the MCU.
- USB Type-C connectivity is verified to meet design requirements, with all necessary support circuitry in place.
- ERC and BOM updates are completed to reflect the changes.
