Raspberry Pi 5 Fax HAT Design

I need to create a hat for raspberry pi 5 that have two functions. 1 has an analog FXS port t provide direct connection to a fax machine. The second is i converts ths fax call inbound or outbound to the raspberry pi 5 for processing audio and decoding. this will be for inbound and outbound.
Your goal is a Raspberry Pi 5 HAT with an analog FXS fax port plus bidirectional fax audio handoff to the Pi for software processing.
  • I’ve prepared the plan: telephony interface, isolation/power/protection, Pi audio/control path, and schematic/layout validation.
  • Because this template isn’t editable from your account, use this copy to build it: Clone project. Then click Start on the plan bar.
Include ring generation, hook detect, surge protection, and full isolation on the FXS port.
I’ll include ring generation, off-hook/on-hook detection, surge protection, and galvanic isolation of both power and audio/control signals between the FXS circuitry and the Pi. The fax machine will connect to a powered FXS port—not a public telephone line—with bidirectional digital audio passed to the Pi for fax processing.
Implementing and verifying this requires Agent mode and an editable copy of this read-only template. Is the fax cable intended for indoor use only, or could it run outdoors or between buildings? That determines the surge-protection and isolation requirements.
What is Agent mode?
Agent mode lets Flux build, do deep research, validate designs, and work through complex assignments.
Chat mode is just as smart and has the same engineering knowledge, but it cannot work autonomously.
Only Agent mode consumes your plan's included AI usage (measured in ACUs).
