WiFi Water Flow Meter Design

Design a WiFi-enabled water flow meter for a 3/4" PVC pipe with the following specifications:
Project Requirements Power Input
  • USB-C: 5V (15W) power input with appropriate protection circuitry
Connectivity
  • WiFi Module: ESP32 or similar for wireless connectivity and data transmission
Sensing
  • Ultrasonic Flow Sensor: External ultrasonic sensor suitable for 3/4" PVC pipe
  • Measure flow rate and total volume
  • Sensor is powered with 12V and outputs RS485
Power Management
  • Voltage Regulation: 3.3V regulator for powering the ESP32 and sensor
  • Protection: Reverse polarity protection, ESD protection, and decoupling capacitors
Supporting Components
  • Programming Interface: UART header for firmware updates
  • Status Indicators: LEDs for power, WiFi connection, and flow detection
  • Reset Circuit: Proper enable/reset network for the microcontroller
Request
Generate a complete schematic with all necessary components, including the power supply, microcontroller, sensor interface, and supporting circuitry.
I can’t generate or modify the schematic right now because this workspace has no available ACUs, so AI execution tools are unavailable.
Current project state:
  • Project is empty: 0 components, 0 nets.
  • No schematic, PCB, or documentation has been created yet.
What remains to be done once ACUs are available:
  • Select concrete parts: ESP32 module, USB-C input/protection, 5V-to-12V boost or external 12V strategy, 3.3V regulator, RS485 transceiver, connectors, LEDs, headers, passives.
  • Create the schematic for:
    • USB-C 5V/15W input with CC resistors, fuse, TVS/ESD, and input filtering.
    • 12V rail for the ultrasonic RS485 flow sensor.
    • 3.3V rail for ESP32 and logic.
    • ESP32 boot/reset/programming circuitry.
    • RS485 interface between ESP32 UART and external sensor.
    • Status LEDs and decoupling.
  • Verify power budget, ESP32 boot strapping pins, RS485 termination/biasing, and protection coverage.
  • Optionally create a bring-up/test plan and firmware pin map.
When ACUs are available, I can build the full schematic directly in this project.
