Hardware Subsystems
ESC / Battery Interface
  • J1: JST SM08B-GHS-TB(LF)(SN), 8-circuit 1.25mm-pitch locking GH-series side-entry SMT header, documented to mate with the GHR-08V-S housing class.
  • User-defined pin order: 1 GND, 2 VBAT, 3 M1, 4 M2, 5 M3, 6 M4, 7 Current, 8 NC.
  • J1 pin 1 creates the mandatory common controller/ESC ground.
  • Pins 9 and 10 are footprint reinforcement terminals and are intentionally NC in the schematic.
  • The supplied harness is assumed to be JST-GH-compatible from its reported/photo appearance; continuity-check every wire and identify pin 1 before plugging in because connector mounting-side and mating-end views can visually reverse left-to-right order.
Input Protection and 5V Buck
  • F1: 1206L110/16WR, 1.1A-hold resettable fuse.
  • D1: SS34FA series Schottky reverse-polarity protection.
  • D2: SM6T10A input transient clamp.
  • U1: TI LMR33630BDDAR, adjustable synchronous buck, configured for 5V.
  • Reference values used: L1 2.2uH; C1 10uF; C2 220nF; C3 100nF BOOT-to-SW; C4 1uF VCC; C5/C6 22uF; R1 100kΩ; R2 24.9kΩ.
  • C7 100uF protected-input bulk and C8 47uF 5V local bulk support cable and radio transients.
Removable ESP32-S3 SuperMini Daughterboard
  • The SuperMini is not directly soldered and is not represented as a bare ESP32 module.
  • J2: 1×10 female socket row, selected common representation: 5V, GND, 3V3, GPIO1, GPIO2, GPIO3, GPIO4, GPIO5, GPIO6, GPIO7.
  • J3: 1×8 female socket row, selected common representation: GPIO8, GPIO9, GPIO10, GPIO11, GPIO12, GPIO13, TX/GPIO43, RX/GPIO44.
  • The purchased SuperMini receives soldered male headers and plugs into J2/J3.
  • Mandatory pre-assembly check: match every printed pin label on the exact purchased board against J2/J3. SuperMini variants are not guaranteed pin-compatible.
  • Future component placement must leave the daughterboard USB connector, BOOT, RESET, and antenna unobstructed; no copper or components should intrude into the antenna keepout.
GY-87 Sensor Module
  • J4: 1×8 vertical male/header through-hole footprint for permanent soldered installation, pins documented as VCC_IN, 3V, GND, SCL, SDA, FSYNC, INTA, DRDY.
  • Powered from the SuperMini 3V3 output through J4 pin 2; VCC_IN is intentionally NC.
  • I2C uses the user-fixed mapping GPIO8 SDA and GPIO9 SCL.
  • No carrier-board I2C pull-ups are fitted. Assumption: the purchased GY-87 already contains pull-ups; measure the bus before assembly and add only one pull-up pair if absent.
  • Place the module with its physical X/Y/forward marking aligned to the PCB forward note; verify axes for the exact module revision in firmware.
  • Keep the module orientation marking visible after permanent soldering.

ADC Monitoring
  • VBAT: R3 180kΩ / R4 68kΩ divider; 8.4V produces approximately 2.30V before R5. R5 4.7kΩ, C10 100nF, and D3 3.3V zener provide filtering/protection. Read on GPIO1 / ADC1.
  • ESC Current: scale is intentionally unspecified. R6 10kΩ, R7 100kΩ pulldown, C11 100nF, and D4 3.3V zener provide conservative conditioning. Read on GPIO2 / ADC1. Calibration is mandatory; no amperes-per-volt value is assumed.

Power and Runtime Expectations
  • Propulsion current does not pass through this PCB.
  • Estimated 5V peak load is 650mA.
  • At 6.0V input and 85% assumed conversion efficiency, controller input current is about 0.64A; F1 and U1 provide margin.

ADC/interface losses` orientation note; final placement must align the module appropriately.
Important Design Decisions
  • LMR33630BDDAR selected for substantial VIN and output-current margin.
  • The removable SuperMini uses real female socket headers; the permanent GY-87 uses a real male/header through-hole footprint rather than a fabricated custom module symbol.
  • ADC pins are GPIO1/GPIO2; motor pins GPIO4-GPIO7; I2C GPIO8/GPIO9.
  • No duplicate I2C pull-up pair fitted pending verification of the purchased GY-87.
Assumptions and Unresolved Items
  • Exact purchased ESP32-S3 SuperMini row labels and mechanical spacing must be checked before assembly; the schematic uses the selected common 1×10 + 1×8 representation.
  • Verify whether the actual GY-87 3V pin accepts regulated 3.3V input and verify onboard pull-ups.
  • Verify the ESC accepts 3.3V command logic.
  • Verify the included ESC harness housing is genuinely GHR-08V-S/JST-GH-compatible and continuity-check the cable order/pin-1 orientation before mating.
  • Calibrate ESC Current empirically or from the ESC manufacturer documentation.
  • Full component placement, antenna keepout geometry, USB/button clearance, and routing remain the next phase.
Change Notes
  • Completed full schematic connectivity, power tree, motor safety network, ADC conditioning, test points, and NC markings.
  • Updated removable SuperMini implementation to J2/J3 female socket rows per user clarification.
  • Updated J4 to a male/header through-hole footprint for permanent GY-87 soldering.
  • Set the board appearance requirement and layout visualization to black solder mask with white silkscreen.
  • Established 36 × 36 mm outline, 4-layer stackup, mounting holes, and forward note.
