Part Audit Review

Review all available part information (MPN, package, pin count, description, properties). If no datasheet URL is already set, search the web for the official datasheet and update the part's Datasheet property with the URL. Then cross-check the schematic symbol, footprint, and pin descriptions against the datasheet. Summarize key specs and flag any mismatches.
I’ll audit the part metadata, find and attach the official datasheet if needed, then verify symbol pins and footprint geometry against it and report any mismatches.

Part Audit Report Scope
Audit of available metadata, schematic terminals, footprint, 3D asset, and the currently configured KEC TL431 datasheet.
Available part information Datasheet identity and key specifications
The configured document identifies the KEC TL431 series as a three-terminal programmable precision shunt regulator/reference. The values below were extracted from the configured datasheet by OCR; critical production decisions should be checked directly in the PDF because the extraction did not return Flux-resolvable citation markers.
Symbol and terminal cross-check
The datasheet TO-92 front-view pin assignment is:

Audit complete. The existing KEC datasheet URL was already populated, so it was retained; pin mapping 1=REF, 2=A, 3=K and the TO-92 lead spacing match the datasheet.
Flagged issues include incorrect Transistors classification, missing package/pin-count metadata, unspecified pin types, generic description, misleading BC239C footprint naming, disabled/displaced silkscreen, and tight hole/annular-ring margins. Full specs and findings are in the Part Audit Report.

Physical pinDatasheet name/functionCurrent terminalResult
1REFERENCE — control/reference inputREF, Pin Number 1Match
2ANODE — common/anode terminalA, Pin Number 2Match
3CATHODE — shunt-current/cathode terminalK, Pin Number 3Match
Symbol pin order and names are correct. However, all three terminals have Pin Type: Unspecified and no descriptive pin-function text. Recommended descriptions are Reference input, Anode/common, and Cathode/shunt output. Electrical pin types should also be assigned intentionally rather than left unspecified.
Footprint cross-check
Current footprint payload:
  • Three plated through-holes in a straight line.
  • Adjacent pitch: 1.27 mm; pin 1-to-3 span: 2.54 mm.
  • Pad diameter: 1.00 mm.
  • Drill diameter: 0.65 mm.
  • Pad mapping: pad 1 = REF, pad 2 = A, pad 3 = K.
KEC TO-92 data indicates 1.27 mm adjacent lead spacing and approximately 0.45 mm leads, up to roughly 0.55 mm in the extracted package table. Therefore:
  • Pad positions and pin mapping match.
  • 0.65 mm drill is plausible but tight against a 0.55 mm maximum lead, leaving only about 0.05 mm radial clearance. Verify lead-form tolerance and fabrication drill tolerance; a larger finished hole may improve assembly robustness.
  • 1.00 mm pad diameter gives a small annular ring with a 0.65 mm drill (0.175 mm nominal radial ring). Confirm this meets the selected fabricator's minimum annular-ring rules.
  • The footprint body/courtyard is broadly TO-92-sized, but its source filename/value is BC239C, not TL431. This is a documentation/library-quality issue rather than an electrical pinout error.
  • The imported footprint has disabled or displaced silkscreen geometry in the current rules, so visual body and pin-1 indication should be reviewed before reuse.
Flagged mismatches and risks
  1. Incorrect part classification: Part Type = Transistors should be voltage reference / shunt regulator / integrated circuit.
  2. Missing package metadata: should identify TO-92, 3-pin, through-hole for base MPN TL431.
  3. Missing direct pin-count property: should be 3 if that property is supported.
  4. Generic description: replace with Adjustable precision shunt regulator / programmable voltage reference.
  5. Pin metadata incomplete: all pin types are unspecified and pin descriptions are absent.
  6. Misnamed footprint asset: BC239C.kicad_mod is confusing even though its 1.27 mm straight-lead geometry matches this KEC TL431 package.
  7. Potentially tight holes/annular rings: mechanically plausible, but should be checked against component lead and PCB vendor tolerances.
  8. Silkscreen state: footprint silk appears disabled/displaced and may not provide a useful body outline or pin-1 marker.
Overall verdict
The electrically critical 1=REF, 2=A, 3=K mapping is correct, and the basic three-hole TO-92 footprint geometry agrees with the configured KEC datasheet. The main problems are metadata quality, unspecified pin semantics, a misleading footprint asset name, and manufacturability margin around the 0.65 mm holes and 1.00 mm pads.
