Part Validation Review

I’ll review the part metadata, find and set the official datasheet if missing, then compare the symbol, footprint, and pin descriptions against the datasheet and report any mismatches.
The part already had an official GCT datasheet URL set, so I’m leaving that property unchanged and using it for the symbol/footprint check.

Completed the part review and created Part Validation Report: SIM8060-6-1-14-00-A.
Open items:
  • Datasheet URL was already set to the official GCT PDF; no property update was needed.
  • Footprint geometry matches the datasheet.
  • Flagged quality issues: missing pin descriptions, all pins typed Unspecified, generic GND terminal naming, and description not mentioning the card-detect switch.
Suggested next steps:
  1. Update pin types and pin descriptions from the datasheet.
  2. Optionally revise the description to mention “6 contacts + card-detect switch.”
  3. Review whether SW/GND should be tied to ground or routed as card-detect in downstream designs.

Symbol Review
Matches
  • The symbol exposes all 10 physical pads present in the footprint: 6 SIM contacts plus 4 shell/switch pads.
  • SIM contact functions match the datasheet assignments:
    • C1 = VCC
    • C2 = RST
    • C3 = CLK
    • C5 = GND
    • C6 = VPP
    • C7 = I/O
  • The SW/GND pad is present, which is required for the -6-1- switch-equipped variant.
Mismatches / Quality Issues
  • Pin Type properties are all Unspecified. The datasheet provides enough information to classify at least VCC as power, GND pads as ground, and signal pins as signal/passive connector contacts.
  • Pin Description properties appear absent. The datasheet functions are present in designator names, but not captured as explicit pin descriptions.
  • Ground terminal naming is generic. C5 is named GND_1 rather than GND; this is acceptable in Flux to avoid duplicate designators, but it obscures the datasheet’s exact C5 GND naming.
  • Part Type property is Connectors plural. This is not an electrical mismatch, but most library taxonomy generally uses singular Connector.
  • Project description says 6 Position. Electrically correct for SIM contacts, but distributors often describe this variant as 7 (6 + 1) position because it includes a card-detect switch. The project has 10 physical pads including shell/switch pads.
Footprint Review
Contact Pads C1/C5/C2/C6/C3/C7
Datasheet recommended PCB layout shows:
  • Pad size: 0.90 mm × 1.20 mm
  • Pitch: 1.27 mm
  • Overall C1-to-C7 center span: 6.35 mm
  • Order: C1, C5, C2, C6, C3, C7
Current footprint:

Table

PadCurrent center X/Y (mm)Current size (mm)Status
C1-3.170, -6.8000.900 × 1.200Match; +0.005 mm rounding vs nominal
C5-1.900, -6.8000.900 × 1.200Match; +0.005 mm rounding vs nominal
C2-0.630, -6.8000.900 × 1.200Match; +0.005 mm rounding vs nominal
C6+0.640, -6.8000.900 × 1.200Match; +0.005 mm rounding vs nominal
C3+1.910, -6.8000.900 × 1.200Match; +0.005 mm rounding vs nominal
C7+3.180, -6.8000.900 × 1.200Match; +0.005 mm rounding vs nominal
The 0.005 mm coordinate difference from ideal centered positions is negligible and within the datasheet’s ±0.05 mm layout tolerance.
Shell / Switch Pads G1-G4
Datasheet recommended PCB layout shows:
  • Four side pads
  • Pad size: 1.30 mm × 1.80 mm
  • Horizontal spacing: 12.30 mm, equivalent to X = ±6.15 mm if centered
  • Vertical row spacing: 8.80 mm
  • Functional labels: GND, SW/GND, GND, GND
Current footprint:

Table

PadCurrent center X/Y (mm)Current size (mm)Status
G1-6.150, -2.7001.300 × 1.800Match
G2-6.150, +6.1001.300 × 1.800Match; this is the SW/GND pad
G3+6.150, +6.1001.300 × 1.800Match
G4+6.150, -2.7001.300 × 1.800Match
Footprint Overall
  • Footprint pad dimensions match the GCT recommended layout.
  • Pad order and spacing match the datasheet.
  • Component outline, silk outline, and courtyard generally follow the datasheet geometry.
  • The STEP model is present in the footprint.
Important Electrical Note: SW/GND Card Detect
The -6-1- variant includes a normally-open card-detect switch. The datasheet shows the switch between S/W and C5/GND. Therefore, the SW/GND pad should be reviewed in the target circuit:
  • If card detect is needed, route SW/GND to a GPIO/input with an appropriate pull-up/pull-down strategy, according to the host design.
  • If card detect is not needed, tying SW/GND to ground may be acceptable only if the intended behavior is understood.
  • The other three side pads are ground/shell pads.
Final Assessment
The part is largely consistent with the official GCT datasheet. The footprint geometry matches the recommended PCB layout, including pad sizes, pitch, spacing, and switch/shell pad placement. The main issues are metadata/symbol-quality items rather than land-pattern errors: missing pin descriptions, all pins typed as Unspecified, generic GND terminal naming, and a project description that does not call out the card-detect switch.
