Part Audit Report

Review all available part information (MPN, package, pin count, description, properties). If no datasheet URL is already set, search the web for the official datasheet and update the part's Datasheet property with the URL. Then cross-check the schematic symbol, footprint, and pin descriptions against the datasheet. Summarize key specs and flag any mismatches.
I’ll audit the part metadata, locate and attach the official datasheet if needed, then verify the symbol, footprint, and pin definitions against it and report any discrepancies.

Audit complete. I added the official Micro Crystal datasheet URL and confirmed the 8-pin symbol mapping and C8 footprint are correct.
Flagged issues: missing pin descriptions, incorrect Mount: Wire metadata (should be SMD), broad part classification, and incomplete manufacturer normalization. Full findings are in Part Audit Report.

Identification and metadata
  • MPN: RV-3028-C8-32.768KHZ-1PPM-TA-QC
  • Manufacturer: Micro Crystal AG
  • Part type: Crystals and Oscillators / integrated real-time-clock module
  • Pin count: 8
  • Package: C8, 2.0 × 1.2 × 0.6 mm, 8-pad SMD ceramic package
  • Existing description: 0.92/10.2024 Manufacturer Recommendations 0.6mm Micro Crystal AG
  • Datasheet status before review: blank
  • Datasheet property now resolves to the official Micro Crystal PDF: https://www.microcrystal.com/fileadmin/Media/Products/RTC/Datasheet/RV-3028-C8.pdf
  • Additional metadata added: Manufacturer Name and Package or Case Code.
Key specifications
The manufacturer information and extracted datasheet copy identify this as an ultra-low-power RTC module with an integrated 32.768 kHz crystal.
  • Supply range: 1.1–5.5 V for timekeeping; 1.2–5.5 V while I²C is active.
  • Timekeeping current: 70 nA typical, 90 nA maximum at 3 V with I²C inactive.
  • Factory accuracy option: ±1 ppm at 25 °C.
  • Operating temperature: −40 to +85 °C.
  • Interface: I²C, up to 400 kHz.
  • Programmable CLKOUT: 32.768 kHz, 8192 Hz, 1024 Hz, 64 Hz, 32 Hz, or 1 Hz.
  • Functions: automatic backup switchover, trickle charger, alarm, timer, timestamp/event input, UNIX counter, 43 bytes nonvolatile user memory, and 2 bytes RAM.
  • Package processing: Pb-free/RoHS; reflow profile lists 260 °C for 20–40 seconds.
  • Metal lid is electrically connected to VSS (pin 5).
Evidence note: the project initially had no indexed datasheet. The electrical and pin data were extracted from a mirrored copy and cross-checked against Micro Crystal's official product page; after the property update, the library resolved the Datasheet URL to Micro Crystal's official PDF.

Symbol findings
  • All eight pin numbers and names match the datasheet.
  • Pin directions are consistent with the documented functions.
  • The symbol places inputs on the left and outputs/power pins on the right; this is readable and does not affect electrical correctness.
  • Metadata gap: none of the terminals has a populated Pin Description property. The terminal names are correct, but descriptive text such as “Serial clock input” or “Backup supply voltage” is absent.
  • ~INT correctly conveys an active-low signal visually, though the manufacturer pin name is normally rendered INT with an overbar.
Footprint cross-check
Observed footprint:
  • Eight rectangular SMD pads.
  • Pad numbering maps correctly to the symbol terminals.
  • Body fabrication outline: 1.2 × 2.0 mm.
  • Pad dimensions: 0.70 × 0.27 mm.
  • Pad row centers: x = ±0.50 mm.
  • Pad y positions: ±0.81 mm and ±0.27 mm, giving 0.54 mm pitch.
  • Pin-1 indicator is adjacent to pad 1.
  • Courtyard: 2.2 × 2.5 mm.
  • A STEP model is attached.
These dimensions and orientation are consistent with the C8 2.0 × 1.2 mm package/manufacturer recommendation encoded in the project. No pad-numbering, orientation, missing-pad, or obvious land-pattern mismatch was found.
Mismatches and risks
  1. Datasheet was missing — corrected by setting the official manufacturer product/document URL.
  2. Manufacturer Name was blank — corrected to Micro Crystal AG.
  3. Package metadata was absent — corrected with the C8 package description.
  4. Pin descriptions are missing — names and electrical types are correct, but terminal descriptions should be populated for library quality and searchability.
  5. Part classification is broad — Crystals and Oscillators is not wrong, but Real-Time Clock / RTC module would be a more precise subtype if the property taxonomy supports it.
  6. Description is not user-facing — the current description looks like source/revision notes rather than a functional description. A clearer description would be: “Ultra-low-power I²C real-time clock module with integrated 32.768 kHz crystal, backup switchover, trickle charger, timestamp, alarm, timer, and ±1 ppm option.”
  7. Mount metadata is incorrect — the library index reports Mount: Wire, while this is an 8-pad surface-mount ceramic package. It should be SMD.
  8. Manufacturer facet normalization is incomplete — the explicit Manufacturer Name is now correct, but the library search facet still categorizes the manufacturer as Other.
Overall assessment
The electrical pin mapping and C8 footprint appear correct. The main issues are metadata completeness rather than a manufacturing-critical symbol or footprint defect. No library-part quality ticket is warranted based on the available evidence.
