The official ams OSRAM page currently serves a newer official PDF identified by web search as preliminary datasheet version 0.6 dated 2023-03-01 and marks the product discontinued. The stored project PDF appears to contain the same core electrical and pinout data, but may be an older copy/version.

  • The terminal naming and pin numbers match the datasheet pinout.
  • The terminal Pin Type values are all Unspecified. For a cleaner symbol, LD_A could be typed as Passive or Power In/Anode-equivalent, LD_K as Passive, and CASE as Passive/Mechanical/Shield depending Flux conventions, but this is not a datasheet mismatch.

  • The pad numbering and intended pad geometry in the imported KiCad asset appear directionally consistent with the datasheet TO56 pinout and lead dimensions.
  • A 0.65 mm drill for 0.45 mm ±0.05 mm leads is plausible.
  • The datasheet does not provide a recommended land pattern, so exact annular-ring/pad-size validation cannot be made from the datasheet alone.
Mismatches and issues flagged
  1. Description power mismatch: the project description says 80 mW, while the official PLT5 450B datasheet lists 100 mW typical continuous-wave optical output power at TC = 25 °C and 120 mW max peak optical output rating. The 80 mW value may refer to a related older PL 450B listing, not this PLT5 450B datasheet.
  2. Datasheet URL freshness: the part has a Datasheet URL set, but it points to a stored PDF copy rather than the current official ams OSRAM URL. The official page now marks PLT5 450B discontinued and serves the official PDF at https://look.ams-osram.com/m/711b74151583f43/original/PLT5-450B.pdf.
  3. Part Type is broad/nonstandard: Flux metadata says Part Type = Diodes. A more specific type such as Laser Diode / LED / Diode, depending Flux taxonomy, would better match the device.
  4. Missing explicit Package property: the project metadata does not show an explicit Package or Package or Case Code property, although the footprint and datasheet clearly indicate TO56.
  5. Pin descriptions are implicit only: schematic terminal designators and pin numbers match, but terminal Pin Description fields are not populated.
  6. Footprint scaling/rendering concern: the layout tree shows the embedded KiCad footprint asset with plausible mm-scale pad data, but the computed Flux pad nodes and rendered shapes appear at approximately 0.001 mm scale, and the footprint image renders effectively invisible. This looks like an import/scaling issue in the Flux footprint representation. I filed an internal part-quality report for review.
  1. Update Description to state 450 nm, 100 mW typ optical output, TO56 blue laser diode.
  2. Optionally replace the Datasheet URL with the official ams OSRAM PDF URL.
  3. Add Package / Package or Case Code = TO56 if the project property schema allows it.
  4. Add terminal Pin Description properties for all three pins.
  5. Fix or override the Flux pad geometry if this part will be used on a PCB: pad centers should match the intended TO56 geometry, with pad/drill sizes suitable for 0.45 mm ±0.05 mm leads.
  6. Consider marking lifecycle/status as discontinued if lifecycle metadata is available.
