PCB-First vs Enclosure-First Design

Briefly describe what it's like to design a complete product in Flux. Help me understand what the PCB-first and enclosure-first design workflows are like to work with.
Designing a complete product in Flux means working through the electronics, firmware, enclosure, and manufacturing needs together—not just drawing a PCB—and checking that they fit and function as a system.
  • PCB-first: Start with the circuit, connectors, and board layout, then design an enclosure around the resulting board. This works well when electrical performance or a particular set of interfaces drives the product; the case may need to grow or change to accommodate them.
  • Enclosure-first: Start with the product’s size, shape, mounting, and user-facing controls, then fit the electronics inside. This works well when ergonomics or installation constraints matter most; the board layout must adapt to the available space.
Both workflows are iterative: connector access, component height, heat, and assembly can require changes on either side. I haven’t changed your project this turn; choosing a workflow and building or verifying the design remain to be done. Execution stopped because your ACUs ran out.
