PCB-First vs Enclosure-First Design

Briefly describe what it's like to design a complete product in Flux. Help me understand what the PCB-first and enclosure-first design workflows are like to work with.
Designing a complete product in Flux means iterating on the electronics, PCB, enclosure, and firmware together—checking how power, connectors, mounting, heat, and assembly fit into one usable device.
  • PCB-first: Start with the circuit, place components, and shape the board; then build the enclosure around it. It’s a natural fit when electronics drive the product, though enclosure design may reveal connectors or mounting holes that need to move.
  • Enclosure-first: Start with the product’s size, appearance, controls, and connector openings; then fit the board inside those constraints. It works well when ergonomics or a fixed space matters most, but PCB placement and routing can be more constrained.
Both are iterative: the starting point sets the priorities, not a rigid one-way process. I haven’t changed your project; execution stopped because your ACUs ran out.
