PCB-First vs Enclosure-First Design

Briefly describe what it's like to design a complete product in Flux. Help me understand what the PCB-first and enclosure-first design workflows are like to work with.
Designing a complete product in Flux means iterating on the electronics, firmware, and mechanical packaging together—from requirements and schematics through PCB layout, fit checks, and manufacturing files.
  • PCB-first: Start with the circuitry, place connectors and components, then design an enclosure around the board. This works well when electrical performance or an existing PCB drives the product; the tradeoff is less freedom over the final shape.
  • Enclosure-first: Start with the product’s shape, mounting, controls, and port locations, then design the PCB to fit. This works well when appearance, ergonomics, or installation space drives the product; the tradeoff is tighter constraints on component placement and routing.
Both workflows involve revisiting decisions as electrical and mechanical constraints become clearer. I haven’t changed your project this turn; execution stopped because your ACUs ran out.
