PCB-First vs Enclosure-First Design

Briefly describe what it's like to design a complete product in Flux. Help me understand what the PCB-first and enclosure-first design workflows are like to work with.
Designing a complete product in Flux means working through the electronics, PCB, enclosure, and manufacturing needs together—iterating as each reveals constraints on the others.
  • PCB-first: Start with the circuit, place connectors and components, then shape the enclosure around the board. This suits electronics-driven projects with flexible packaging; the trade-off is that the finished enclosure may be larger or less polished than you imagined.
  • Enclosure-first: Start with the product’s size, appearance, mounting, and user-facing controls, then fit the board inside. This suits handheld devices or products that must fit a specific space; the trade-off is tighter placement, thermal, and assembly constraints.
Neither is strictly one-way: agree on connector access, mounting, and height limits early, then iterate between board and enclosure. I haven’t changed your project; execution stopped because your ACUs ran out.
