#Goal

Build an Internet router that addresses the functional and hardware requirements including WAN/LAN connectivity, routing/SoC, memory/storage, power management, and overall system management in a new project branch.

#Implementation plan

Create a new project branch to isolate this design from the BM1387 ASIC Bitmain Antminer S9 reference design.
Define and document the product requirements for the Internet router:
1. Specify required interfaces (WAN/LAN ports) and connectivity standards.
2. Capture performance requirements for the routing/SoC, including processing capability and supported protocols.
3. List memory and storage needs for routing tables and firmware storage.
4. Detail power supply and management requirements to ensure stable operation.
5. Include device management features for configuration and monitoring.
Outline the system architecture by establishing subsystem boundaries:
1. Create clear separation for WAN/LAN interfaces, routing engine, memory/storage module, power subsystem, and management/control unit.
2. Capture interconnects and key signal paths in a high-level schematic diagram.
Establish early PCB and layout requirements:
1. Define board size, stackup, connector placements, and thermal as well as EMI/EMC constraints.
2. Set initial layout guidelines to support later detailed design work.
Perform an architectural review to ensure completeness and readiness of the captured requirements.

#Success criteria

The new project branch is created without affecting the current BM1387 design.
A documented list of product requirements for the Internet router is completed.
A high-level system architecture is outlined with clear subsystem boundaries and interconnections.
Early PCB requirements are captured, including board layout, stackup, and EMI/EMC considerations.
The design is ready for further detailed component selection and implementation by the execution agent.
