Wiring Schematic for Speaker Cabinet

I’ll update the PCB layout to reflect the safer isolated-jack redesign: arrange the four jacks, DPDT switch, and two speaker connections in a clear jack-plate style layout, then check placement.
The existing PCB components were mostly off the board area. I’m moving them into a 160×100 mm jack-plate style layout: stereo jacks left, mono in/thru right, DPDT centered, speaker terminals above.
Updated the PCB layout into a readable jack-plate arrangement on the 160×100 mm board.
Open items:
  • J1/J2 are labeled as dual-switching isolated jack positions, but the exact 6-lug dual-switch jack footprint is not in the Flux library yet.
  • DRC still reports airwires because I placed the components but did not route copper traces; for this cabinet, the point-to-point wiring document remains the build reference.
Layout now has:
  • J1 Left Dual-Switch and J2 Right Dual-Switch on the left side.
  • SW1 Series/Parallel centered.
  • J3 Mono In and J4 Mono Thru on the right side.
  • SPK1/SPK2 speaker connections above.
  • Silkscreen notes for the DPDT switch contact behavior.

2x12 Speaker Cabinet Wiring Layout
This layout uses Switchcraft 12A-style normally-closed tip-switched mono jacks. The important terminals are:
  • T / Tip: the plug tip contact.
  • S / Sleeve: the plug sleeve contact.
  • TB / Tip Shunt: normally closed to T when no plug is inserted; opens when a plug is inserted.

The mono thru jack is simply paralleled with the mono input jack: J4 T to J3 T and J4 S to J3 S.
Stereo jack tip-switch behavior
  • J1 TB is normally closed to J1 T when no plug is inserted, so the mono tip feed reaches SPK1+.
  • J2 TB is normally closed to J2 T when no plug is inserted, so the DPDT switch can feed SPK2+ for mono operation.
  • Inserting a plug into J1 or J2 opens that jack’s TB-to-T contact, disconnecting the mono feed from that speaker’s tip.
  • Sleeve is not switched on a Switchcraft 12A; only the tip contact is switched.
DPDT ON-ON switch wiring
Use a normal 6-lug DPDT ON-ON toggle, viewed from the solder-lug side as:

1 4
2 5
3 6
Wire it as:

Switch operation
Depending on the physical switch orientation, one throw position will connect 2→1 and 5→6; label this Mono Parallel:
  • Mono tip → J1 TB → J1 T → SPK1+
  • Mono tip → SW1 lug 6 → SW1 lug 5 → J2 TB → J2 T → SPK2+
  • SPK1- → SW1 lug 2 → SW1 lug 1 → mono sleeve
  • SPK2- → mono sleeve
The other throw position will connect 2→3 and 5→4; because lugs 3 and 4 are jumpered, label this Mono Series:
  • Mono tip → J1 TB → J1 T → SPK1+
  • SPK1- → SW1 lug 2 → SW1 lug 3 → jumper → SW1 lug 4 → SW1 lug 5 → J2 TB → J2 T → SPK2+
  • SPK2- → mono sleeve
Notes / cautions
  • Use a DPDT ON-ON switch for two-mode series/parallel selection. A DPDT ON-OFF-ON will add a center-off mute/disconnect position.
  • Since the Switchcraft 12A only switches the tip, stereo operation relies on inserting plugs into J1 and J2 to open the mono tip-feed shunts.
  • Do not assume all DPDT switches have the same internal lug orientation; verify with a continuity meter before final soldering and label the panel after testing.
