AI in every step of your ECAD workflow

Flux runs as an AI hardware engineer alongside you. It handles the repetitive work, learns your house rules, explains its reasoning, and pauses for review at the decisions that matter.

Planning stage
01

Plan

Describe the board. Flux drafts the architecture, BoM, and stack-up, and waits for your sign-off before any ECAD work begins.

Schematic capture stage
02

Schematic Capture

Flux drafts the schematic in your ECAD library style, auto-generates missing symbols and footprints, and runs ERC as you go.

PCB Layout stage
03

PCB Layout & Routing

AI-assisted layout and routing inside your ECAD design rules. Net classes, clearance, differential pairs, all fully editable, never a black box.

Fabrication outputs stage
04

Fabrication Outputs

Every signoff output your fab and assembler expect: Gerber, ODB++, drill files, pick-and-place. Plus live EOL alerts on your BoM.

If you can type it, you can build it.

"Designed and manufactured the entire product in Flux, taking it from concept to production without external EE help. The device raised $187K on Indiegogo—proof of both market demand and his ability to deliver using Flux."

Common questions from ECAD buyers

Is Flux a full ECAD software replacement?

For PCB design workflows, yes. Flux covers schematic capture, multi-layer PCB layout, constraint-driven routing, DRC, signoff outputs, and BoM with live pricing. It replaces the core ECAD workflow entirely — no separate tools needed for schematic, layout, or output generation.

What formats can Flux export?

Gerber X2, ODB++, IPC-2581, Excellon drill, IPC-356A netlist, BoM CSV, pick-and-place, STEP for mechanical handoff, DXF, and schematic / assembly PDFs. Every output is generated from a single source of truth inside Flux's browser-based ECAD.

How large is the component library?

Millions of parts with live pricing and stock from major distributors. If a part isn't in the library, AI generates the symbol, footprint, and 3D model from the datasheet so you never stall waiting for a librarian.

Can I import projects from other ECAD tools?

Yes. KiCad import is on every plan. Altium and Cadence OrCAD/Allegro import are on Pro and above. EAGLE / Fusion 360 imports as well. Schematics, parts, and footprints import cleanly.

Does Flux ECAD software work on Mac, Linux, and Chromebook?

Yes. Browser-native. Works on Mac, Linux, Chromebook, and Windows. Anywhere a modern browser runs. No emulation, no Windows partition, no Parallels. The first modern ECAD software that doesn't lock your team to one operating system.

Is Flux secure for sensitive hardware IP?

Projects are private by default and encrypted in transit and at rest. SOC 2 Type II. Enterprise gets hidden workspaces, SSO, audit logs, and annual third-party security reviews. We never train AI on your private projects.

What can the AI actually do in Flux's ECAD?

Research parts, draft schematics, generate symbols and footprints, place components, route traces, run DRC, and prepare fabrication outputs. Every AI action is reviewable and reversible — you stay in control of every design decision.

What if I get stuck?

In-app chat with real engineers, documentation, YouTube tutorials, and a Slack community. Common issues like DRC violations and import problems are well-documented.

Can multiple engineers work on the same PCB design?

Yes. Flux supports real-time multiplayer collaboration. Multiple engineers can work on the same schematic and layout simultaneously, with changes syncing instantly and full version history tracking every edit.
