This project involves the design and development of a compact USB-C Power Supply PCB capable of delivering reliable, regulated DC power to a variety of electronic devices. The board integrates USB Type-C Power Delivery (PD) technology to negotiate multiple voltage levels (5V, 9V, 12V, and 20V) using a PD controller, allowing dynamic power management based on the connected device’s requirements.
The PCB includes input protection (over-current, over-voltage, and reverse polarity safeguards) and efficient DC-DC conversion using high-efficiency buck or buck-boost converters. Thermal management and component layout are optimized for minimal noise and maximum power density, making the board suitable for embedded systems, prototyping environments, and portable electronics.
Potential expansions include adding an OLED voltage/current display, current sensing for load monitoring, and an onboard microcontroller for smart power management and USB-PD communication debugging.
