PCB-First vs Enclosure-First Design

Briefly describe what it's like to design a complete product in Flux. Help me understand what the PCB-first and enclosure-first design workflows are like to work with.
Designing a complete product in Flux means iterating on the electronics, PCB, firmware, and enclosure together—checking that electrical requirements, physical fit, connectors, and manufacturing constraints agree.
  • PCB-first: Start with the circuit, then size and lay out the board, and design an enclosure around it. This suits electronics-driven projects: you get flexibility for component placement, but the finished case may be larger or shaped by the board.
  • Enclosure-first: Start with the product’s shape, size, controls, and connector locations, then fit the PCB inside. This suits handheld devices or products with strict mounting requirements, but board layout becomes more constrained and may need extra iterations.
Both workflows involve back-and-forth rather than a rigid handoff. I haven’t changed your project this session; this was an overview only. Execution stopped because your ACUs ran out.
