Verification is only partially complete:
J12 exact pinout
  1. 5 V
  2. GND
  3. I²C SCL
  4. I²C SDA
  5. ESP32 TX — GPIO9, connect to display RX
  6. ESP32 RX — GPIO10, connect to display TX
  7. 3.3 V
  8. HMI enable/spare — GPIO14
Power
The 5 V source is the DFRobot DFR0379 LM2596 buck module, but the project does not identify the 7-inch display or its maximum current. Therefore, available current margin cannot yet be confirmed safely.
Connector and clearance
J12 is a vertical Samtec SSW-108-02-G-S 2.54 mm female socket, not a locking cable connector. It is approximately 21.35 × 3.55 mm and located inside the board rather than at an edge. The vertical mating direction is clear, but exact cable/plug clearance cannot be validated without the mating connector housing and cable exit direction.
Please provide the 7-inch display model/MPN or product link and the intended mating cable/connector. Those two items are required for an exact current and mechanical-clearance verdict.

PCB Component Placement Preview
Board Preview Setup
  • Board size: 140mm × 160mm rectangle, 4-layer stackup.
  • Routing: not performed. This is a placement-only preview.
  • Placement intent: top-view functional zone organization with generous routing space.

Bottom Edge: DisplayU6 OLED / display connector
Placement Notes
  • Power input is grouped away from sensor/logic areas.
  • ESP32 controller is centered in the upper-middle of the board for short routes to sensors, display, camera, and outputs.
  • Relays are on the right edge, physically separated from the MQ-2 analog divider.
  • OLED/display connector is placed on the bottom edge.
  • I2C devices and pull-ups are placed to keep the SDA/SCL path reasonably short.
Current Preview Limitations
  • No traces have been routed yet.
  • Some DRC overlap reports remain from existing footprint/sub-layout internals, especially around the MLX90640 module sublayout and pre-existing internal geometry. These must be resolved before routing/manufacturing.
  • U5 MLX90640 appears as a module with internal child elements; it may need footprint/sublayout cleanup before final routing.
Next Step
Approve the placement preview, then resolve footprint/sub-layout issues before routing.
