Enclosure industrial-design brief
Revision 3 refinement update
The user approved Estimated horizontal connector entry normal to each nearest wall. Base-only
Enclosure base v3 now has J4 17 ×9 mm on+X and J7–J10 each16 ×9 mm on+Y, all at Z0.5…9.5. No openings merged; minimum adjacent web2.066 mm. Lid, retention, supports, screws and109 ×119 shell plan remain unchanged.
. All embedded CAD regressions passed; assembly rendering remains blocked and physical cable/tool fit remains unverified. The absent-opening statements below are historical revision-2 status, superseded by this update. See
enclosure-verification-results for exact coordinates and checks.
Status — incomplete, not print-ready
Checked revision 2 base/lid and nine separate required hardware instances are placed. Required connector access at J4 and J7–J10 remains FAILED / blocked because transformed wire-entry axes and aperture heights were not verified. Do not release for fabrication or claim complete component fit. Detailed evidence and per-item scope status are in enclosure-verification-results.
Direction and process
Freestanding soft rounded-rectangle, gray PETG prototype FDM, 0.4 mm nozzle, PROVISIONAL 0.20 mm layers. Separate base and flush screw-secured lid; recessed Phillips pan heads and separate simplified hardware. No vents, sealing claim, feet, logos, display windows, LED holes or button access. Printer/build volume unknown; fits require coupons. Base open-side up, lid outer-face down; removable supports required beneath elevated base bosses.
Measured project frame
Actual custom outline is 89 × 99 mm, NOT the stale 160 × 100 mm nominal layout size. PCB center in ROOT is (45,-50) mm. Normalized layout extents ±44.5,±49.5 are already Y-up. PCB unchanged, top Z=0, substrate modeled 1.5 mm (reported 1.4986 mm).
Two actual holes: M3=(6.2892,-93.1043), M4=(84.0551,-93.1043) ROOT mm, both Ø3.5 with Ø6.5 annular pad. Preserve M3's existing antenna no-metal restriction: plastic locator only. Single M4 retention screw; no new PCB holes. All electrical components, routing, holes, and original model enabled states preserved.
Revision 2 shell
Outside 109 × 119 × 47.3 mm assembled, R10.9 exterior corners; cavity 103 × 113 mm. Increased from the superseded 97 × 107 mm candidate specifically to move elevated lid bosses outside the vertical PCB insertion sweep. This is focused repair cycle 1 of 2 maximum; no second repair was needed for tested geometry.
Walls 3 mm; floor/top 2.4 mm. Shared ROOT placement (45,-50,0) mm. Floor Z=-12.9…-10.5; PCB underside -1.5; seam29; lip32; lid exterior34.4. Stepped joint3 mm engagement, base lip1.5, skirt1.3, PROVISIONAL 0.2 mm per-side clearance; shadowline0.5 ×0.5. Locally thickened lid screw seats bottom29.6, seat32, Ø6.4 head recess, Ø3.4 clearance hole. Head top34.2 gives0.2 mm recess.
PCB retention and supports
13 contacts: M3 locator (-38.7108,-43.1043), M4 retention (39.0551,-43.1043), and eleven auxiliary points in normalized board coordinates:
(7,-38), (-38,0), (0,0), (38,0), (-38,44), (0,44), (38,44), (-19,24), (19,24), (-19,-22), (19,-22).
Auxiliary tips Ø3 with Ø2 bearing disks and chamfer; explicit revolved R2 concave roots. Locator Ø3.3 in existing Ø3.5 hole, top0.5 with0.25 lead-in. Additional contacts divide the earlier long diagonal spans. Numerical maximum support span and mechanical stiffness remain unverified; no quantitative compliance claim. Through-hole pad locations were inspected, but actual solder fillet solids were unavailable.
Eight lid fastener local positions: (-47,-53), (12,-54.5), (47,-53), (-49.5,0), (49.5,0), (-47,53), (0,54.5), (47,53). All eight read back at matching ROOT coordinates.
Hardware basis
Nine physical ST2.9×9.5 screws: eight lid and one PCB. Simplified Phillips pan geometry, Ø2.9 shaft and Ø5.6×2.2 head; no helical threads. Supplier published dimension basis previously researched: Aspen Fasteners ME469-29X95-003000 and Keller & Kalmbach 5279812995; not certified CAD. Ø2.3 pilot is PROVISIONAL in PETG. Nominal PCB engagement8 mm, lid engagement7.1 mm; bore bottoms leave2.9 mm and3.5 mm plastic respectively. Pilot/torque qualification required. Existing M4's original short screw visualization remains enabled and overlaps the new retention representation; it is a legacy placeholder, NOT a tenth physical screw.
Envelopes and access
Estimated top envelope25 mm and underside solder protrusion3 mm, not measured component solids. Two pre-existing ROOT OLED models at Z=10 remain unchanged. Actual assembly rendering failed HTTP400 FST_ERR_VALIDATION invalid key, including a focused retry. STEP attachments were unavailable in measurement sandbox. J4 evidence verifies side-entry classification and dimension A15.24 mm only; transformed mating face and aperture height unresolved. J7 nested designator lookup failed. Leave all five required openings uncut and report incomplete, rather than guessing.
Vertical/internal headers, LEDs, buttons, and OLED windows intentionally receive no openings per scope. No thermal, RF, mains-safety, sealing, or ingress performance claim.
Concept and evidence
Concept drawing is qualitative, not dimensional evidence.
Native upload of the checked base executed final-BRep rejection checks for base/lid intersection, PCB material intersection, vertical PCB sweep, blind bores/bottoms, auxiliary bearing disks, and lid hardware clearance. Both plastic assets compiled as one valid solid. ROOT readback verified enabled state, resolved assets, scale1, zero rotation, and final placement. These checks do not validate unknown component/solder/cable geometry. Full details and artifact links:
